Of threats of death and other absurdities

I hope someday in our reading of this book we will not meet so many absurdities and contradictions. I am waiting for a passage that will be meaningful to our situation in the world as it is and at least would teach us something. So far it seems to me that god is so concerned with the appearance of altars, the smell of perfumes and who shall scream his name loudest.

God appears to be so concerned with who the carpenters are that he appoints one himself. Tell me, how many gods to we have here? If it is god speaking, why not tell Moses have filled so and so with my spirit and then the next question is the spirit of god separate from him and then still a plethora of questions that I care not even to enumerate here.

31 Now the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, “See, I have called by name Bezalel, the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah. I have filled him with the Spirit of God in wisdom, in understanding, in knowledge, and in all kinds of craftsmanship,

Please tell me, by declaring the sabbath holy, did god make the other days unholy? It makes sense then why Catholics do all they do in the week and repent on Saturday in preparation for the holy day then continue with their lives as if there is no god. Perhaps most people are aware there is no god and only think about it when the matter is raised.

13 “But as for you, speak to the sons of Israel, saying, ‘You shall surely observe My sabbaths; for this is a sign between Me and you throughout your generations, that you may know that I am the Lord who sanctifies you. 14 Therefore you are to observe the sabbath, for it is holy to you.

I need help understanding how such a draconian law would come from a just, loving and merciful god.

Everyone who profanes it shall surely be put to death; for whoever does any work on it, that person shall be cut off from among his people.

And here god is so ambiguous no wonder Christians are not in agreement on which day this should be. In fact all the abrahamic religions are not in agreement on when this day should be

15 For six days work may be done, but on the seventh day there is a sabbath of complete rest, holy to the Lord; whoever does any work on the sabbath day shall surely be put to death. 16 So the sons of Israel shall observe the sabbath, to celebrate the sabbath throughout their generations as a perpetual covenant.’

I have heard someone say the seven days of creation are metaphorical, please tell me, if you believe they are how do you count this days of work? How do you know it is the time to rest?

17 It is a sign between Me and the sons of Israel forever; for in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, but on the seventh day He ceased from labor, and was refreshed.”

Just a few questions, how many fingers does god have? What language was Moses and god speaking. And was god standing, seating down, how did Moses know this was god speaking?

18 When He had finished speaking with him upon Mount Sinai, He gave Moses the two tablets of the testimony, tablets of stone, written by the finger of God.
