Argument from Evil

What possible good would god accrue from the death of an infant?

What god allows a child to suffer?

In Brothers Karamazov, Ivan contends there is no good that can justify the suffering of a baby.

The theologians excuse is always, Man is responsible for evil. This, however, does not explain the suffering of animals. What kind of good god would allow so much suffering for so many innocent animals? How could he be absolved of responsibility here, since animals aren’t known to be capable of a free-will rejection (or acceptance) of god, worthy of punishment, nor of being able to learn from their sins and mistakes?

  2. Many theologians try to claim that their god is not responsible for evil. However, other apologists try to claim that it’s “Not Really Evil” because humans can’t possibley understand their god and their god might really need evil to do something. This does fail just because these same apologists claim to completely understand their god when convenient, claiming it is “love”, etc.

As always, free will arguments fail as soon as one notes that miracles and anytime a god interferes in human activity abrogates free will. Of course, the bible has *nothing* about free will and plenty against it.

My agreement that WLC is indeed an insuferable douchebag.

Sometimes, bad things, tragic things, just happen. It’s just that simple.

There is no god that allows suffering of a child because there is no god……. periods.

Most theologians do not understand basic logic, and often they are incapable of recognising logical fallacies. As a result of this many of this breed will take refuge in ad hoc reasonings when their ill funded arguments have been refuted by sceptics.

The probleem of evil has basically three solutions: 1 god does not exist; 2 god is malevolent or indifferent; 3 god is not omnipotent.
