Hell again

A post written for atheistenquiry.org where I blog alongside 7 other wonderful people. When you visit say I sent you 😛 as le Ark would say, a fine gentleman the fellow is!

Enquiries on Atheism

I find these two questions that am going to attempt to answer very interesting, if not presumptuous. That said, I will attempt to do them justice.

1.  When you end up in Hell, who are you most looking forward to seeing?  Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot, or Mao Zedong?

2.  If after death your soul finds itself in a place of eternal torment, who will you blame?

Re-read those questions! They are what I call loaded questions, that is, they have several hidden premises in them and we will first try to show what they are then continue to respond. They assumes among other things:-

  • that there is a hell
  • that there is an afterlife
  • that people are resurrected in the form in which they exist now
  • that there is need for eternal torment
  • that we have a soul
  • and that I or other atheists are going to hell

My friend, Onyango Makagutu, who, hopefully, will be sufficiently thoughtful as to arrive with a six-pack.

You have made my evening. It will be chilled and I hope we can have bbq. What I want to know if we will have atheist cows and goats for their ribs?

      • I’m sure there will be plenty of ribs to go around, if we can overcome our prejudice against cannibalism.

        • makagutu says:

Or do we just eat our brothers who we think are well roasted? Think about burning for eternity would also mean the tissue should be regenerative or it will decompose

          • I think the famine problem has just been resolved. Now if we can just talk the big guy into using a couple of those ribs to make us some women —

            • makagutu says:

I hope he hasn’t forgotten how to do it!
I hope somebody is already working on the air conditioning and a library. We will have a great parliament for the people and we can alternate who is in charge of the controls and who sends a message to the big guy whenever we have a petition

              • I think we can pretty much forget about the air conditioning, rather defeats the purpose.

Besides, if, as in Gen 2, he had to pop down to Earth for walks “in the cool of the day,” what does that say about AC in heaven, and you know that if THAT is on the fritz, we can hardly expect a repairman in hell.

                • makagutu says:

Haha, in that case the only thing we should hope for is the brights who have gone before us have put out the fire and or have found a way to harness it for other purposes. On the other hand, it could be possible they have channeled it to heaven making the place unbearably hotter than it was when the big man was with those who helped him create, remember in Gen 3 he says let us send man away he has become like one of us
