I thought so but I don’t like his characterization of The Gita. I think I like the epic and am planning to read the Mahabharata.

I suppose its hard to see the beauty in a creative story (the human accomplishment) when you’re actually trying to break free of that story. One day he might come around to view it differently, as we do from our safe lofts.

Maybe you are right. I think once one stops to view the ancient texts as holy writ, one is able then to choose the good literature from the horrible.

His last question really is the question, isn’t it? Lot of guts and courage to speak one’s truth. Nothing wrong with that.

Interesting. Back when I was still doing the online dating, most of the men I dated were atheists and couple of them were from Hindu families. We never discussed it though, so I don’t know what they thought.

Why wasn’t it discussed? Or it just didn’t matter, I guess, since you were all atheist?

Basically, I believe that was it. Your profile contains all the basics, so you never wind up asking somebody’s age or things like that. I knew they were atheists because their profiles said so. One guy said that he laughed at the portrayal of a Hindu deity in a movie and his mother said, “Even if you don’t believe, don’t laugh. It’s our heritage.” So, I know his family was Hindu, at least in the past.
One funny thing when you’re mainly dating atheists is that the men wind up coming from all sorts of backgrounds.

There are as many stories of why one becomes an atheist as there are perceived gods. And as many more stories as there are versions of the same perceived god.
I don’t read all the stories. I just look at the end and am glad to see:
And they lived happily ever after. ๐

There are as many stories as there were believers, some interesting, some sad but all good to hear and as you say it is great if they lived happily ever after
