The Jesus Myth

it can all be summarised quite simply by stating that there is nowhere, other than the Bible (and the gospels that were not accepted into the final edition of the Bible) that mention Jesus, or any part of his life from any contemporary source. Nothing written by Jesus. Nothing written by any of his followers. Nothing written by any historian of the time. Just, nothing. This suggests to me, that there was not a divine, nor historical figure of Jesus present at the times suggested. The implications for Christianity are obvious; if Christ was either not divine, or didn’t exist, the power of the Church is illegitimate.
Christianity began with the gospel writers. Not with Jesus. Not with Paul. It began with gospel writers, and history was then rewritten to fit their story, for reasons of power.

Amen to that. It’s written like a cheap Hollywood script. (maybe that’s where Hollywood got its inspiration)

In fact, the writings didn’t begin until many years after the so-called divine and early saints were long gone from this planet. Of course, by then, the myths and fables had been embellished many times over.

Superb resource, my Nairobi brother. You’re awake early today! 🙂

  3. You still have to get billions of people to understand these simple truths. They haven’t even read their holy texts… we swim in an ocean of stupid

The world is populated, mainly, by the ignorant. They believe because they have been told to do so. They hardly ever read.
I had a friend who was shocked to find the other day that his god never intended man to live forever. She had not seen the verse in Genesis and these are intelligent people.

      • I know and understand this. The wont of most humans is to exist and reproduce in comfort… for this is the purpose that evolution has given us humans… seek comfort, avoid harm. From this all else in human existence is derived. Reading often involves discomfort so it is avoided by most.

          You have said it well.

I don’t know why others take offense when they are made aware of this basic fact

          • They take offense because it declares there is no meaning or purpose to life other than to produce more humans…. life for us has the same value as that for pond scum and that is demeaning to many

It can’t be said any better.
The development of a bigger brain I think came with many problems. We invented gods, made them better than us and require our worship, were fed up with just mundane living and decided life had to have meaning and purpose and we have spent immeasurable time just thinking about this and volumes have been written to justify this problem we created, while we could just live happily by making children and waiting to die

Plus there is absolutely no evidence at all of any church in Israel. None. Acts mentions them, but where are they?

I never can comprehend how people who reject all kinds of magic or other superstitions can not see the foolishness of the Jesus myth. Intelligent folks who every day make rational decisions in business etc and demand evidence for their decision making fail to see that religion has no evidence.
