Is atheism irrational


Alvin Platinga thinks so and this is why.

He argues that the universe is fine tuned for life. All along, I thought it was the other way round.

He argues maybe the best possible world is this we are living in. That an omni god couldn’t do better than we have is quite revealing.

    Christians make the following claims:

    1. God is a perfect being.
    2. God created the universe.
    3. God desires adoration and obedience.

    By definition, the word perfect means complete, i.e:

    – lacking in no essential detail
    – as good as it is possible to be
    – entirely without flaws, defects, or shortcomings
    – excellent or complete beyond practical or theoretical improvement.

    In other words, a perfect being is a being without needs or desires. Yet claims two and three directly contradict claim one. Moreover, the god of the Bible is prone to sudden paroxysms of rage, anger, hatred, jealousy, vengefulness, grief and remorse — hardly the traits of a perfect and complete being.

    Hence, the Christian conception of God is severely flawed.

    The only way to KNOW that our Earth is more PERFECTLY designed for life than any other place in the Universe, is to first see and study EVERY planet in the Universe and compare them to ours. If, once we’ve done that, we find nothing but gas and sand, and no life or no life with any intelligence like ours, then and ONLY then can we say our planet is THE only one fine tuned for life, and that life like ours most unique and exist no where else in the Universe. It is, mind you, a Universes with about 200 to 300 billion galaxies in it, each with perhaps 200 to 300 billion stars, and most, if not all of those, have planets orbiting them. Thus, only a buffoon would say he or she had enough data to prove life on Earth is so unique it must have been planned that way by some intelligent, all-powerful, invisible guy for whom not a single solitary shred of evidence exists t show he’s real. A more intelligent hypothesis, is one that states, given what we know of the Universe and the universality of the laws of nature, it is most likely, that somewhere else out there, life exists, and quite possibly intelligent life. There’s no proof. But, I go with this hypothesis over the god one because it’s based on reason and good scientific deduction. I’m sick of theists talking about how fucking special our grain of sand planet is in a Universe we can see almost none of. Idiocy.

        And we laugh at those lacking enough frontal lobe activity to upload an avatar. But no. The anonymous name caller hides behind his irrationality in his world of fantasy dreaming of his own importance when, in reality, he’s a mere boy, afraid of girls and not yet sure if he even likes them as much as he does the older boys who taunt him and question whether his willy is in fact a girl part because it is so small. Oh, yon anonymous one! Oh, how you yearn to be a man, but oh, how you become more lady-like as each day passes.

      How I wonder what you are. Are you spaghetti, or are you salad? I don’t know, but I’ll sing you this ballad! Oh little star that is so tiny, you are like a brain that’s soft and shiny. You sit in the head of a guy named Fred, who worships some dude who’s long been dead. He says though dead, this dude yet lives, you can eat his body by breaking bread. I often wonder of my friend Fred, if he is crazy or just so lazy that he can not see what’s clear to me, we know no more than the willow tree of what you and what made me. And yet we kill and mock and joke about those silly funny folk, who don’t believe in things unseen because they’re told to us by mere human bein’s. I think that was what you meant to say.
