John has almost beaten me twice for not having a selfie in my many pics. Here I post one, not so much a selfie since I didn’t take it.
We were out today with my friends ice skating in some hotel in Nairobi. It was fun but given it was my first time, the learning curve was quite steep. Later we had Indian cuisine for late lunch and unfortunately there are no shots for lunch. Without much ado, here we go
Well, I used to say I’d become religious when Africans ice-skate, but after this, I guess I’ll have to go back to, “When Hell freezes over.“

It’s like trying to ride a bicycle: if you just try to balance, you’ll fall down (until you learn to feel the ice and trust your feet). The secret to skating – like skiing – is finding balance on each foot while moving. And then there’s the whole backwards thing.
Maybe now you can better appreciate the Canadian saying (usually in the form of a hockey ‘goodby’), “Don’t forget to keep your stick on the ice.”

My friend, at times I felt I was moving too fast and my legs moving far apart with nothing to hold onto, I thought I would fall. It is fun though and will go a few more times to improve my balance

As I’ve told my daughters, with no relationship to skating, but still applicable – keep your legs together!

Archy….I will remember that lesson next time

I’ve never ice-skated, but I’ve roller-skated, and the principle is the same – the farther apart your legs spread, the closer you come to “make a wish” and major groin-pull! The same is true of skiing, though that is not a likely occupation in Kenya – but then, there’s always Kilimanjaro —

The ice cap on Kilimanjaro is as thin as the one on Mt. Kenya and I don’t think any skiing is possible.
There are roller skater enthusiasts in Nairobi, I may just go to try and see if I survive without a fall

I don’t need it, but Neuro just sent a girl over (Saturday) to check you out, and I just wanted to be sure she didn’t walk away thinking you had a fuzzy face, big black nose, and round furry ears.

Hahahaha you can be funny when you want to be.
Maybe the description you give is true and explains why I have seen no lady

I can be funny even when I don’t want to be – it’s in my nature.
You gotta admit, any girl seeking a strong male African, may find herself a little disappointed at finding an Australian Koala. Eucalyptus salad, anyone?

I always told myself they would linger to pick the brains of this koala loving african man before they ask to see his face. Am a little disappointed

BTW, any idea the timing of the opening ceremony? I have every intention to watch it even if it means being off duty for those few hours.

The world cup, you mean? No idea. I’d imagine they’ll do it to best suit the Europeans. We have a holiday here on that day, so its going to be bedlam.

Yeah, the world cup opening ceremony it is.

Don’t feel bad, I’m a Canadian and I can’t skate. I’m an embarrassment to my country. :p

Yeah, I’ve heard of your strange breed, and yes you are. But can you make love in a canoe?

Haha yes, just like American beer, it’s f***ing close to water.

Ha!
You demonstrate another Canadian trait: no matter what the subject, there must be a way to use it to take a dig at Americans.

I just ran across this on a blog I subscribe to, and thought it was funny , – sent it to Neuro, who thought it was funny – before I lay it to rest, I thought I’d share it here:
A Greek and an Italian argue over who has the superior culture.
The Greek: We built the Parthenon.
The Italian: We built the Coliseum.
The Greek: We gave birth to advanced mathematics.
The Italian: We built the Roman Empire.
The Greek: We invented sex!
The Italian: Yes, but we thought of having it with women.

Thousands of years later, scientists will speak of the old days when snow covered Africa – because they discovered your pics! What evidence these!
