Haters of god

Here we wrote a response to a blockhead who argued that atheists, to make any moral statements, must borrow from the Christian worldview. In that response we told the said nincompoop that if his assertion were correct, then, the Buddhist, the Taoist, The Muslim- basically everyone else- must borrow from the christian worldview to live their lives. It is to claim that exemplary men line the Antonines, Solon, Lycurgus were morally deficient because they were not aware of the fiction called Christ. That men such as Buddha, Lao Tzu and other great moral teachers must have borrowed from Christianity even though they lived several years before this character was developed in the mind of some idle middle easterners.

Today we have the unfortunate chance to meet such a silly person. The said person writes

The thought that anyone is “horrible” comes from the understanding of a moral law, which can only be accounted for by God.

This is such a tired argument and yours truly is truly tired of whipping this dead horse. This fellow must live in a place surrounded only by fellow idiots. It is ok to believe in god. But to argue that the sense of good or bad can only be accounted for by belief in god is moronic. It is to live with your head buried under a sand mould. Were the god of the christian be a source of moral conduct, we would be killing our children for the mistakes of their siblings as atonement, we would drown those who annoyed us and be complicit in the murder of maidservants when the person at fault is the king. How stupid can a person get?

I cannot for the life of me make sense of

If being wrong isn’t such a thing than truth does not exist in your world and you cannot make any claims at all. Not even that nothing is wrong.

That said however, the question to ask is what is truth. Atheism as has been said several times before by many is a lack of belief in the existence of gods. Question of what is truth is a philosophical question that is open to debate.

This statement here

Your worldview is inconsistent and you borrow from the Christian worldview in order to make some of your claims. I know that you have knowledge of God’s existence because God who knows all things and never lies has communicated that to us in the Bible. I beg you to respond to God’s call and turn from your sins and trust in Christ to forgive you

is not only rude but also condescending. As Atomic mutant said in his comment, it is disrespectful. Atheism makes no claim, at least as far as I can tell unless we call the response that no evidence has been provided for god nor that a god hasn’t been coherently defined a claim. One is an atheist because he has no belief in the existence of god. To think that christianity and the claims it makes are the only truth is to be like a child who thinks her mother is the best cook and their shanty the best house, in short it is to be really ignorant.

  1. Ahem…my mom is the best cook.

I would argue that secular morals or ethics are far superior to the ones found in the bible.

  2. Nice post. “Haters of God” is a hateful blog and dominated by ignorance. I wonder how the loving Christian who writes it tastes? I bet he’s bloody delicious. See? I’m an atheist and I love. I LOVE eating Christian idiots that is!!!! Hee Haw!!!! Great post, Mak. Its gotten me rather pissed off. I’m tired of being insulted by Christians who define moral corruption and diseased thinking to me. I can not hate their god anymore than I can hate Peter Pan as neither fictional creatures actually exist. I can and do hate them (Christians) however; if for no other reason than it makes me feel good to do so. Assholes.

You still didn’t tell us where objective morality comes from you just assume it exists. Name calling instead of addressing the questions and than calling him rude shows the inconsistency of your world view. Lol great moral teachers like Buddha Lao Tzu is somehow a response? All I see is a lot of self refuting response by a bonehead who pats himself on the back for accomplishing nothing and claiming victory. I suggest you blog you blog about something more in tune with your behavior. Like video games or episode of Ren and Stimpy. ROFL

What is your point? Where does he mention objective morality and why has its source be anything other than us? What is objective morality?
I said Atomic mutant was right to call him rude. You have a problem with that be my guest.
What do you know about my worldview? I am sure I didn’t write about it in the post.
I’ll be generous and call you a silly person for that is what you are. You come here blowing hot air but no substance.

      • Noel, they are conditioned to believe that humans are simply not capable of prosocial behavior even though neurological and child development studies have shone that it’s intrinsic. Are they so removed from reality that they do not realize other species exhibit prosocial behavior yet have no gods or holy books. And I might add, that as a Christian, I witnessed more anti-social behavior in Christian circles than I’ve ever witness with nonbelievers.

Religions which teach that there is no good thing in us, like Christianity does; that our prosocial (ethical) behavior is as filthy rags; that only their god should get the glory, the credit for their “upright” behavior, are religions that understand the power of mind control (programming).

        Garbage in, garbage out.

To insist that everyone believe as they do is simply in bad taste. It is like forcing everyone to like classical music because I like it.

Whoa, hold up there. Chopin* is GOD! Your non-classical worldview is inconsistent and you borrow from the classical worldview in order to make your claims. Without Chopin you’d have no basis for expressing any musical opinions at all.

            Checkmate, a-classicist!

            * For the pedants: yes I know that technically Chopin belongs to the Romantic era. But those were false composers.

The irony is that the Jewish view posits Satan as an agent of God sent to test our resolve.
For instance, 2 Samuel 24:1 says the angel of the Lord incited David to take a census, but 1 Chronicles 21:1 says it was Satan—an indication that Satan works for God. The scriptures also inform us that God sent an evil spirit to torment Saul and stir up animosity between Abimelek and the leaders of Shechem (Judges 9:23; 1 Sam. 16:14;1 Sam. 18:10; 1 Sam. 19:9). And of course, my favorite story is the one where Satan and God enter into a wager to test Job’s integrity by destroying his health, wealth and family.
With friends like God, who needs enemies?

Mighty Aphrodite, don’t drag Ren and Stimpy into this…For your information, Ren and Stimpy are part of rascal Yahweh’s poly-schizoid-personality disorder which also includes a virgin carpenter in a loincloth and a wide-eyed Pigeon…It didn’t go well with the Amalekites when faced with rascal Yahweh’s “objective” morality so stop mocking my God(s)! On the other hand, objective morality cannot come from an entity with gold teeth who repeats, every third paragraph before he changes his mind and punishes generations, “For-I-Am-the-Lord-thy-God” just like a regular “Busta Rhymes” (another one of His personalities?).

        • Sorry to butt in, but I must. The true, and ONLY definition of objective morality is this: Whatever the hell I say it is when I say it. MY objective morality is THE ONLY objective morality there is, was, or ever will be because I say so. Christians get to spout crap like this, so now I am. Object morality lesson one: christians who claim there is an absolute objective morality for everyone, everywhere, all the time are fucking idiots and need to go away.

“The question is,” said Alice, “whether you can make words mean so many different things.”

It implies you have communed with Satan to have even uttered it. Now you’re dead. Objectively.” And this is the word of our lord, jeebus creebus. Amen.

How can one hate a belief system that one doesn’t subscribe or believe? It’s possible to hate the believer or their actions, but not the mythical deity. Circular arguments are the tool of a fool in defense of an illogical and unsubstantiated ideal. Much love and naked hugs, my Nairobi brother! 🙂
