You were fortunate that there was no smog, when we were there some tourists could not even see from the Great Wall. And I believe it still is so.

This city for the time I was there didn’t have smog. The weather was good too.

You are so lucky to see China – and what a good friend you have to pay for it all! The closest I’ve been to China is Malaysia and Borneo, which was pretty dang awesome. I’m crazy about Asian cuisine, so thanks for the photos of food – YUM!

1949: China/Taiwan split.; chinese civil war ending; nationalists retreat-.”On 21 April, Communist forces crossed the Yangtze River, and on 23 April they captured the KMT’s capital, Nanjing.The KMT government retreated to Canton (Guangzhou) until October 15, Chongqing until November 25, and then Chengdu before retreating to Taiwan on December 10. By late 1949, the People’s Liberation Army was pursuing remnants of KMT forces southwards in southern China, and only Tibet was left.”
