so that he can get some good as some Christians believe, why punish wrongdoers? The fellow writes
God permits evil in the world so that good may come out of it, and this was manifest in the Crucifixion because Man’s salvation was wrought from it. In theological language we would say that Christ’s life was taken from Him according to secondary causes (i.e. murder), but not according to the First Cause, which is God Himself.
which apart from being a load of crap, tells us evil- whatever it maybe is god’s will. If any christian judge, prosecutor or police officer believes this, they are in the wrong profession. They are actively working against their god.
You know Jesus committed suicide by the centurion, but this fellow disagrees, he writes
In Christian literature suicide is regarded as “self-murder” because you are taking your own life. You do not own your own life; God does. Therefore, because God has the ability to take a life and to raise it again, as we see from John 10:18 where He continues on to say, “I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again”, in no way can the word “suicide” apply to God as it can apply to human beings outside of Christ. Thus, even according to this argument, Christ did not commit suicide.
Is this fellow saying that because Jesus is god, his committing suicide by the centurion isn’t a suicide?
A load of crap indeed Mak. I can’t understand how anyone can defend this ‘evil god’ they believe in. There sure ain’t no pills for stupidity. 😉

It would appear so, yes. It makes as much logical sense as the apologist claiming the rules of causality are unbreakable and fixed, but my god is exempt from these unbreakable and fixed rules.

or as the quintessential idiot, SoM, likes to write, the atheist should explain how everything came out of nothing but makes a pass for his god.

Ah, but we’re forgetting the great philosophical counter: a “necessary” being! You see, brother, we’re stupid, because the universe itself cannot be “necessary.” Why, I hear you ask? Because…

Jesus needs to declare the internet evil and off grounds for christians to use. Oh, please, Jeebus! Hear my prayer and make this so. Pretty, pretty, pretty please!!!

I agree with you. Some pastor should declare the internet the play field of the devil and churches encourage their followers to be off it, they kill our brain cells

Because they said so. That’s why! Do you have an issue with that, you militant atheist, you?

Who believes such a thing?” A delusional, mentally ill person, that’s who. What a true load of sh*t. The more of this type of crap I read, the more I’m convinced of the sick/anti-human nature of religion, and in particular, christianity. Utter trash.

Wait… If God condones violence for the good it brings, why discount suicide? Self-inflicted violence is still violence. And what if a family member’s suicide brings someone back into the fold? Is that enough good for the suicide to be okay in God’s eyes?
This is the problem with apologists. Every time they come up with an explanation, a dozen more uncertainties pop up. But that’s what happens when you try to explain the absurd.

You have put it well, when you try to rationalize the absurd, you end up with more absurdities

If evil is the will of the deity, then shouldn’t those who violate the law (commit evil) go free according to the rules of believers?

The mental gymnastics these people go through to justify their beliefs…I wonder if it hurts them as much as it hurts me to read it?
I feel like every time I read such drivel, I might as well have whacked myself in the head with a hammer. Same amount of dead brain cells, and only slightly less pain.
…and yes Mak, he is saying that dogs are incapable of suicide because of “insert twisted pretzel logic here”

Dogs are incapable of suicide because their paws don’t allow for them to hold a gun and shoot themselves in the head. Do christians need to spell out EVERYTHING for you, you silly fellow?

always good to see the “might equals right” argument again from a Christian. I’ve always found that very creepy, since any excuse offered by the Christian for why he/she obeys god comes down to “But I was only following orders.”

Hummm, I wonder then that the Christians don’t make a hero out of Judas, after all, without him, none of the redemption stuff would have happened. I mean, he was really critical to the plot !
