I am beginning to believe there is an outbreak of craziness in some of the christian minds who hosts blogs on the web. In the god watching suffering question by Violetwisp, there is this comment
I was living according to the flesh, meaning, I was living for myself, my desires were all about me, and not about God, once I was born from above, my whole perspective changed, I no longer wanted to live for me, I wanted to live for God, before I was born from above, I was filled with hate, after I was born from above, I was filled with love, before I was born from above, I hated life, after I was born from above, I felt like I had come home, I had found the answer to life, for the first time in my life I had peace, before I was born from above, I did not have peace, before I was born from above, I was a very angry person, after I was born from above, the anger went away, and I felt love for everyone around me, God had changed my life instantly, it was amazing, & still is amazing ! 🙂
And the thoughts that occurred to me was he was now watching porn for god, selfish for god, hating for god, angry for god. The things people tell themselves!
Having said that, I hasten to add this fellow must be confused. You can’t live for someone else, you would sooner die than live for someone else if you thought your life no longer had any meaning for you. And there is nothing wrong with being selfish. But the christian obsession with narcissism gets to my nerves. I am so special, the god of the universe intervened to make my shitty life exemplary and am going to spread this bullshit to everyone who can listen to the crap I have to write.
I don’t know what being born from above means??? 😦

Neither do I. If I knew I would try to birth people from above and sideways

I think it’s a reference to the word play that Jesus (allegedly) makes in John 3, where IIRC, (born) “again” and (born) “from above” are apparently homonyms, so I’m guessing he’s using the “right” phrase to refer to the alleged phenomenon.
Unless you mean WTF does any of it mean, since it’s all so vague and non-manifesting anyway, in which case… I might tend to agree.

I think this is her meaning

That kind of testimony you quoted has a specific meaning among fundagelical Christians. Essentially the person is saying that he lacked a moral compass before turning to Jesus. It’s supposed to be a good thing, that is it’s supposed to be a comfort to know that Jesus can help you not watch porn.

How can Jesus/ god help you not watch porn and the same believer holds it their gods watch every action knows every thought? Think about it for a minute.

Oh, no, I’ve definitely thought about that. Hell, when I was a kid I was told that your family can see you from heaven. I remember stealing a cookie and then thinking that my grandfather could see me do it.
It was weird. Now I don’t even WANT to consider the ramifications of what I can do as an adult.

I think god can only make them watch more porn, like have 3 screens or more at anyone given time

Saw a 3D, high def, porn flick the other day. Definitely an experience from above, and below, and on top, and then above again.

I once had a pigeon shit on me from above, and once, I fell from above a stair well and landed on my head. In both cases, the experience sucked. I’d rather things be in front of me than “from above.” Oh, a sparrow once shat on me from above, too. I almost left that out, sorry.

Those experiences suck. I wouldn’t want any of them

Victoria probably has a lot to add to this, but as far as I can see he’s just playing a cognitive trick on himself. Great if it works, more power to him if it truly makes him happy, but he’s simply living in a delusional state.

He definitely is delusional, you should check out his blog.

I kind of worry about this guy from reading more on his blog, well, until I realised he’s asking people for money and it starts to look a little dodgy. He’s good to have around though because his interpretation of the Bible is really straightforward and it’s hilarious seeing him spit out Bible verses at other Christians. If the Bible was a real book, he’d more or less have the correct interpretation (in my opinion). He drives Tiribulus nuts.

I view this on roughly the same level as imprisoning sociopaths. If it keeps people who would otherwise be dangerous from hurting innocents, well ok. If religion makes people who would otherwise be huge dicks from going through with it, whatever, goodie goodie. In both circumstances, you are being limited.

I agree with your comment on the obsession with narcissism. This is a well-thought scheme by the ecclesiastical authorities in order to secure the blind allegiance of the misguided to entrench their worldly power.

Your beautiful line, brother: ” am going to spread this bullshit to everyone who can listen to the crap I have to write.” And how did you feel when you typed that sentence? In the beginning was the Word and the Word has never stopped. Aren’t the fireworks wonderful?

Now that you mention it, could the word have existed before there was an intelligent being to encode and decode?

Exactly. In a weird way, one type of world was created roughly 6000 years ago, the written world. How long have we had writing and such?

What type of writing because people have been doing some form of writing much longer than 6000yrs

Okay, how long? I’m only alluding to the fact that we ran around long before we learned to type…

BFA apparently had a profoundly negative life event(s). He’s yet to tell Arch (over on Violet’s post) what he was afraid of and what made him so angry. Neither has he answered Ark’s questions as to the source(s) of his dysphoria before his “born again” experience.
The fact that he appears to have been over-taxing his right amygdala (negative emotions) tells me that he most likely experienced synaptic burnout in that specific region of the limbic system which would explain why he got all lovey dovey and started tip-toeing through the tulips after synaptic shunting. There are extensive connections available in the limibc system for shunting synaptic activity to the opposite side of the brain. In his case the parts of the brain associated with positive emotions.
This brain phenomena happens to people in all cultures. It just so happened that he associated the brain phenomena with the god of his culture just like so many others do in their culture.
After his “religious” event, it was most likely followed by vectorial cerebral hemisphericity.
Vectorial cerebral hemisphericity as differential sources for the sensed presence, mystical experiences and religious conversions.
You won’t learn that in church.

I have seen super villians on tv make the claim that humans are ripe for enslaving. Sometimes they are right. (depending on the humans in question of course)
This is what I see between the lines: “I am a feeble minded moron! With no moral compass to guide me I will resort to all sorts of bad activities! I must enslave my mind, subjegate myself, and worship some non existant entity greater than myself, so I can be a better person!!1!
…or you could just suck it up and work out whatever issues you may be having. Like normal people.
