    Hmmm… Care to elucidate?
Custom eliminates the need for questions and concerns? Of reflection and thoughtful inquiry?

  2. Why does the fiddler stay up on the roof if it is so dangerous? Because of TRADITION! A line from Fiddler On The Roof that fits the theme here, I believe.

  3. But it’s always been that way. Wrong (It’s always been that way for you but world wide no, no it hasn’t). Retards buy that horse shit where smart people say because it has been for you doesn’t make it universal nor true.

Birds fly south for the winter…wait not all do so therefore it hasn’t always been the custom. Wow even nature proved custom wrong.

I am afraid, nature hasn’t proved custom wrong.
When I said aright, I should have meant, custom can be used to justify anything. Good and evil.

      • I got exactly your meaning from it. A concise post. *smiles*.

Fiddler on the Roof is a spot on link to it as well. People will explain away all manner of appalling/dangerous/cruel/you name it behaviour by cloaking in the words custom and tradition.

The power of custom is always overlooked.
The people who oppose, for example, guy unions are hiding behind custom.

Back to nature it is customary here in the US for birds to migrate south for winter. But not all birds follow that custom.

The Lakota people never had anything against same sex unions. yes it was more common to find two women than two men but there were also more women than men. What is custom here is not always there and the way it is practiced by this group differs from that group.

People cling to the customs “they” know and don’t ever recognize other customs unless it complements theirs then hey it’s ok.

  4. Whenever I see or hear the word “everything” my hackles go up. Customs, traditions, it’s interesting to look at and talk about our differences and perchance one can become a little freer from the cultural, thought imposed, shackles? This is speaking to traditions, customs, that are divisiveness and hurtful. If it isn’t destructive, I’ve no issue with it. At least for now I think not. Happy Sunday my friend. 🙂

      You are right Paulette.
My intent here was to raise awareness that most times, custom runs the world. You ask why people kept slaves, they will say, we always kept slaves. So to bring change, it is custom that should be challenged
