  1. Perhaps because the facts presented to challenge the intellect can be indisputable? But really, minus the facts I wonder if it is easier. The ego seems to love to hold onto being right. Happy Sunday to you.

    Perhaps because the will is endorsed by feeling, whereas the intellect tends not to be?

    That is an interesting view. Essentially it implies we would rather admit we are dumb that immoral. I think there is something to it.

    “Somebody once said that in looking for people to hire, you look for three qualities: integrity, intelligence, and energy. And if you don’t have the first, the other two will kill you. You think about it; it’s true. If you hire somebody without [integrity], you really want them to be dumb and lazy.” – Warren Buffett

    Although not directly relevant I also thought of this quote:

    Iago:
    Good name in man and woman, dear my lord,
    Is the immediate jewel of their souls.
    Who steals my purse steals trash; ’tis something, nothing;
    ‘Twas mine, ’tis his, and has been slave to thousands;
    But he that filches from me my good name
    Robs me of that which not enriches him,
    And makes me poor indeed.

    Both hurt the ego. Lose the ego, and there is no problem.

  5. I agree with John. Lose the ego and the indomitable sense of “ME” and it is easier to see errors in thinking. However, doing this is easier said than done for most of us. How does one explain a Ken Ham, whose will tells him the most ridiculous nonsense about the world is true, so much so, in fact, that he bends facts to fit what his will/ego tells him is “real”? People like Ham confess to no errors of will or intellect, ever.

    For whatever reason, it seems to me that people have an extremely difficult time admitting to any weakness or mistake, no matter the circumstance. Maybe its ego, pride, or an underlying sense of insecurity. I hope you are having a great weekend! Love and naked hugs! )

    I would rather be, well not wrong. But the fact is I often am wrong. While it might sting a little to have to admit that, I’d rather share my stupid than pretend it didn’t happen, or gloss it over somehow. I can and do admit my errors even if I may not like my stupid.
