All good here Mak – came home to heat, after the cold ‘down under’ but it’s cooler today and more like Fall weather! You have been behaving then, eh?
I read through the thread that Ark has linked to. I’d say you’ve taken some lessons from the ‘master’ himself. . ha, ha! Charm personified!

I’ve just been busy being soccer gymnastics school mom- and now my baby (the 1 year old) is sick with fever over 102 all weekend with her 7th ear infection and we now are scheduling her ear tube surgery ๐ข I’m being a baby- I hate seeing my kids sick.
So your happy scenic posts are much appreciated in my time of angst ๐

First thought from first picture: these are flash flood channels. Be careful and get out at the first sniff of upstream rain. And that can be a problem if the rain occurs out of sight.
My second thought was if you can find fossils in the exposed sandstone. The same kind of topography if you hit a shale bed might get your name forever etched in paleontology with some remarkable discovery.
My third thought was I wondered how hot it gets in the channel?
And my fourth thought was I’m glad there are exit signs posted!

That is always my thought too. It would be a really good find.
The channel doesn’t get so hot. The side walls are high enough to provide shade most of the day.
That exit sign is in only one place and I don’t know how easy it would be to take it though

Gorgeous. You’ve reminded me that I was supposed to be out hiking with my sister in the Utah desert this week, but we cancelled it due to the tendonitis in my knee. My knee’s better, though, so we’re thinking of doing it in the spring.
I’m jealous. ๐

I can’t wait to see your photos when you go hiking.
Good to know the knee is better.

Now that it’s getting to be fall I should go visit some friends in New Hampshire and get some of those cliche “autumn color in New England” photos.

is New England’s weather as described by Mark Twain

Yeah, with the exception of Southern California we really can’t brag about the weather here. It’s not the weather so much as the landscape. They have a lot of deciduous forests and a disproportionate number of the trees that turn really bright colors in the fall. People really do go there just to look at the “fall color.”

Absolutely stunning photographs mak, I envy you. I know some people who live in Utah, and their nearby canyons often have very dangerous flash floods out of the blue. Enjoy yourself and be careful! *smiles*

how is it in the clouds? Hot here with little cloud cover.
Last year some students died in flash floods in the same place, they no longer allow anyone in during the rainy season.

Ah, that’s sad, a shame they died for the caution to be put in place, but then that’s how these things go I guess.
I’m so slow at getting back on here, so pardon the late reply – it was sunny and warm and yes, a little cloud cover here also, and now…it is dark! Which is also nice, be you on the ground, or on a Cloud. *smiles*.
