what a world with legal weed would look like

You are aware, if you are aware of many things, there is a meeting at the UN to discuss international drug control priorities and policies.

On their list, weed will feature.

Those here opposed to decriminalizing weed and other recreational drugs can share with me their objections.

  1. America’s so-called “War on Drugs” has been such an unmitigated disaster that even its most staunchest supporters are now seeing the light. Their original rationale should have been easily refuted by the analogous disaster of alcohol prohibition in the early 20th century, but misplaced political priorities once again blinded that hindsight.

And marijuana? The irrational demonization of weed was so absurd that it was openly mocked on live television shows such as “Saturday Night Live” during the 1970s and 1980s. So now the U.N. is finally seeing the light too? A little late, aren’t they?

I’m with Robert and (I presume) you too on this, Mak. I can’t recall if I’ve mentioned Eugene Jarecki’s documentary “The House I Live in” here before, and apologise if I have, but to my mind it’s a superb analysis of what Robert calls the ‘War on Drugs’. Here is a short excerpt for anyone not having seen it:

  3. In the States, we need to decriminalize weed and other recreational drugs and criminalize Republicans. This will most likely never happen, but it brings a smile to my face when I think about it.

Portugal decriminalized drugs a few years ago. It is generally considered a success story.

  5. considering that it certainly seems like everyone does weed here in the states (including people my husband worked with while running very very high speed printing and binding machines), it’s jus silly not to. Tax the hell out of it and us that money to fix infrastructure, etc.

    Weed should be decriminalized period.

You will never ever see a pot crazed maniac with an axe. It just doesn’t happen. And if it did it would not be because of the weed. There would be another cause.

I know these things because, umm, I was a self appointed weed scientist at some point. Many experiments were carried out. No adverse side effects that would be considered dangerous.

I would be glad to do some more rigorous studies if anyone needs my data. šŸ˜Ž
