Great shots, Mak! I could see the croc. . The images on your site, however, seem to overlap and cover up the text (?). I was able to see the pics and text under the pics from viewing the message in my mail, rather than clicking on your site. Looks like a grand adventure, for sure!

It was a grand adventure. I was tired at the end of it

And the pics seem to display well. If you have the pointer above any, you will see the text

Like I say, I can see the images in bigger pics plus the text under them, from my mail. On your site, the images are smaller and no text under. . . It may just be b/c I’m on my iPad (I blame everything on the iPad; I’d never make a mistake, ha ha. . .) 🙂
Lovely to see wildlife from another part of the world!

Fabulous landscape mak, a real treat for the eyes, though that stony pass looks like hell on a stick for me, still, variety is the spice of life eh?
– esme enjoying the look of that ride very much upon the Cloud

Life without variety would bore us to death, I think, just like life without work.

I honestly would not have noticed the crocodile (on my phone) if you hadn’t mentioned it. Wow!
Where’s that rocky area?
Thanks for the beautiful pictures. You have a great week, friend.

It’s in the park. It is where we began the ride.

How great to be there to take these photos. Communing with nature and animals. Doubtful it gets any better than that. ❤

At least there was water and shrubbery separating us 😀

Kind of makes our “wild” areas seem rather tame. No crocodiles, rhinos, gazelles etc. In fact no mammals or reptials at all.

So what do you have in your wild?

Birds.
NZ became isolated from Gondwana before the evolution of mammals and modern reptiles. It sank beneath the ocean for some time after that, so unless a creature could fly or swim 2000 km, it wasn’t going to get here.

That makes sense. We have many bird species here too though I wouldn’t name a dozen, especially as I am not a bird watcher

I could probably name a dozen flightless NZ birds ☺

The only flightless bird, other than the domesticated fowls, this side of the equator are ostriches

Except that fowls are not strictly speaking flightless. Their power of flight might be worse that the Wright brothers’ Kitty Hawk, but they can get airborne for short hops. I’m referring to truely flightless birds that would not survive a fall from a tall tree 😊

Haha. That’s worse than a cat!

“somewhere in that picture there are gazelles”
I’m told the Roman travel brochures once said:
HC SVNT GAZELLES (Here be gazelles)
Thankfully, you survived to tell us about it firsthand. 🙂

I am told the group that arrived ahead of us found a lion on the hunt. I missed that epic scene 😦
