Created in his image

Allallt has in the linked post argued against the claim made by the believers in the Judeo-Christian god that we are created in his image. I see no need to repeat his arguments here.

In my village, we say, if a mad man takes your clothes while you are bathing in the river, don’t run after him, there will be difficulty in telling who the mad one is. And it is so that I have made a point of not responding to a madman, SoM, whenever he tries to drag me down a rabbit hole. But I will respond to his absurd claim here.

First he asks me to explain how everything made itself, a reply, he seems to write everywhere.  In my comment on the OP, I make no comment or allusions to the origin of things. And so far as I can tell, I don’t know neither does the madman SoM know. The bible,  Koran or whatever book isn’t evidence.

His next question regards my comment that the bible and its god is myth. He asks if I, too, is a myth. This question requires no answer. It must have been asked by an idiot with access to the internet. Only a deluded individual will think his god is rather special and all other stories of gods are myths. All groups of people have their creator gods, that the Hebrew one is prominent in some parts of the world is due simply to warfare and deception. Nothing more.

I am open to be persuaded I am wrong in calling the Judeo-Christian god myth. To do that I want evidence. The bible doesn’t qualify. Your grandmother seeing a vision is not evidence. Finding a parking slot is not evidence. Finding lost socks, John Z, I am looking at you, is not evidence.

Of course, for som and cs, these requests for actual evidence will just bring more of their silliness.

Made in God’s image… it would definitely seem that mankind is reflective of the image of god found in the bible. Violent, selfish, egotistical and narcissistic to a fault at times. Or should we be thinking in reverse? That this god of the Bible is reflective of the image of mankind, or ‘created’ in our image? Yup… over the droning objections of som and cs, this seems to be a more accurate ‘image’ or picture of the true situation.

Of course, you know that SOM is a troll. The day is coming when he rips off the mask and yells, “Gotcha!”.
The other one just appears to be a plain vanilla dufus.

Lost socks, perhaps, but what about missing Tupperwear lids!?

I know the Invisible Pink Unicorn took my lost socks (raptured to sock heaven) but I hadn’t thought about missing lids, because my usual problem is too many lids, and figuring out what they fit. Perhaps the socks are being reincarnated as lids?

Either way, I suspect Anoia, the Goddess of Things that get Stuck In Drawers, has some hand in it. You’d better respect her if you ever want to see your ladle again.

  6. The madman SoM can’t possibly be a real person. Even the wackiest of people aren’t that absurd. He must be a virtual character created by some internet troll.

As for John Z finding his missing socks, only a miracle could do that… lol!

  7. If there were a WP contest for the person who’s been banned from the most blogs, SoM would surely win. Idjit is far too kind a word to describe him. Oh, BTW, tell Zande I found his socks. They somehow got into the casserole I made for dinner last night. Totally gross, I must say. How they got there, I’m sure I don’t know. One of the great mysteries of the universe.

The general rule on the internet is: don’t feed the troll.
I once put an article on Wikipedia on the book of genesis into a Wikipedia category of “Mythology”, which it clearly is. The next moment, somebody had removed the link. This went on until I asked one of the Wikipedia admins for help because by removing the link and insisting (in a comment) that the book of Genesis is truth, he was violating the Wikipedia principle of neutral point of view. He finally left the category there after the admin intervened. The problem with mythology is that for people belonging to the respective religion, the mythology is not mythology but holy truth (you can use that as a definition of mythology: being mythology is the property of a story not to be mythology for some people, but a sacred text containing The Truth). On such topics, the Wikipedia approach does not really work, these articles will never become stable. One of the reasons I got a bit tired of writing Wikipedia articles and turned to blogging instead.
By the way, I whish you a happy new year (and to everybody else here)!

SOM. What little interaction I have had with him, I’d honestly rather just stub my toe, hit my thumb with a hammer, and get a wedgie all at the same time, than try to respond to his idiocy. Still occaisionally I have to respond, because well, some things just can’t stand uncontested.

My most recent, and perhaps last, reaction to one of his insultingly ignorant comments (something about how religion was used in history as a tool for power/therefore religion wins somehow? And that all atheists were Marxists) went something like this:

    Your arguments are worthless sir.
In no certain order I will address some or your…umm, points?

Atheism does not address any of your vapid questions. It is a lack of belief based upon years of putting up with x-ian B.S. and plenty of actual evidence directly contradicting your magic book. We only address stupid questions by obviously ignorant people. Just in case someone reads crap like this and actually thinks it might have merit. It doesn’t.

Nearly all atheists are Marxists? I must have missed the memo. You are pulling pseudo facts out of your behind, don’t worry most x-ians do. There is a cream for that.

All religions are equally idiotic belief in nonsensical absurdities, none of which are supported by evidence.

Religion used by rulers to suit their purposes, and a great many people not using religion thusly are two separate issues, how you can turn that into “my religion wins and atheism is worthless” will take a psychologist and many years of therapy to figure out how you scrambled that into a win.

Strawmen are easily knocked down. Your entire post is bashing strawmen that don’t actually exist. Get a grip man. Your superiority complex is showing.

    Shelldigger,
Even though it’s clear that you didn’t really read my post, thanks for dropping anyway.
Here’s the infallible “all atheists are Marxists,” test.
Did you vote for Donald Trump?
If the answer is “no” you are a Marxist.
Also, there no references to the Bible in my post.
My post is all about science.

    Just…wow.

Thank you SOM. I see the light very clearly now. You managed to get me to do some research. You should have that hyperreligiosity looked at. I am sure there is help for you if you would look for it.
