Saw a guy the other day sticking posters up on ever street pole a few weeks ago. When I finally got around to reading one i was quite surprised to see he was selling his skills as a magician. Literally, a magician who peforms real magic, not the rabbit in a hat business, but actual magic magic.

Candomble promises real magic, but it’s not terribly popular down here. That’s not to say we don’t see the offerings left under trees every second day. Few years ago there was even a dead chicken.

You’re very wrong. My health insurance, social security, and medicare will be taken away from me within the year. In all likelihood, I’ll be homeless by this time next year. That, my friend, is far, far worse than anything Clinton or Bush did. And, as soon as tRump has one of his hotels bombed by terrorists, and he will, the bombs will start dropping on whichever enemy he perceived did it. I’m rather tired of people saying there’s no difference with this ass than others. It’s painfully obvious that those who say it are NOT the ones, close to 30 million of us, who are about to lose medical coverage. As well, Bush and Clinton and whomever else you may wish to add, did not create a Muslim registry for American citizens as tRump is about to do. You may not understand this, but that’s one step away from concentration camps. I’m sure, to many Germans at the time, Hitler seemed no worse than any other leader they had had. Unfortunately, what I gather from all the naive comments about this ape of a man-child, is that we’ve learned absolutely nothing from history, and the world is once again paved with a clear path toward Nationalist Dictators and naive, foolish people who refuse to see just how dangerous they are. No, the world didn’t end on the 20th. I mean, give the fella a bit of time, will ya? Bad times are coming. For me, they start almost immediately, but the full impact on the world of this child in charge of the most powerful arsenal on the planet will be felt for decades, if not centuries, to come. He’ll have the EPA dismantled by next year as well meaning there will be 0 regulations on companies that are harming the environment. Hell, even Reagan had SOME sense of the need for the EPA. Yeah, we’re fucked.

Jeff, I agree with all you say. And I don’t take it lightly that there are many people who are directly and immediately affected by his policies. Being so far removed from the ground, I can’t wrap my head around the fact that he managed to win the Republican ticket and then the national vote.
On the question of history, I am not sure we ever learn from it, especially those who read it. They tend most to repeat the mistakes of the yesteryears hoping for a different result.

Further, I can’t understand how some of his appointees seem to be so clueless about their mandates. Will they be stopped from taking office? Are the senate hearings just a charade? All these questions and much more trouble an observer from far away lands.
And then comes Conway with alternative facts.

Yeah, this not going to be a pretty 4 years. Those who can’t see just how ridiculous this is, are blind to reality. Every cabinet member he’s nominated believe the exact opposite of what they should. His Secretary of Education nominee hates public education and is a religious, right-wing Christian nutter. The head of the EPA is a dude who’s sued and fought against everything the EPA stood for for decades. His VP is a guy who deeply believes in America as a Christian theocracy and will do all he can to make it one. tRump has a free ride to turn America into the third world country he wants it to be. It’s sad that too few see this. They will, but by then, it will have already happened.

Yes. He’s head of Housing and Urban Development. Of course, he has no experience in this area and thinks poor people are lazy, but, in tRump’s eyes, because he’s black, he’s qualified for all things “urban”.
