I have written about him and his board before. Maybe they should rebrand and call themselves morality police

The state has no place in deciding morality.

I didn’t know we had a morality police

But isn’t that precisely what the Kenya Film Classification Board is trying to do – determining what is immoral, in this case homosexuality, and restricting publication accordingly. If the article is correct, then it would appear that the Kenyan constitution places some responsibility on the state to police morality.

I am sure I have not seen anything like that in our Constitution.
This fellow has a misguided view that his god and church hate homosexuality so it is immoral.

But he has an official role as head of the KFCB, which I assume is a government appointed body. If he isn’t censured then hasn’t the government aka the state implied approval of his comments?

We have quite a big problem with people like him. The state or government of the day want to appease the minority or majority that thinks he represents them

All I can say is thank goodness that appeasing such people here would not be in the politicians’ interests.

I think his church certainly has hated it for generations. There is no actual “god” to hate anything, but boy the power seeking brethren who run churches can certain speak “for him”. LOL

This is a rather absolutist and broad statement, as “morality” includes a variety of topics that states traditionally do have a place in deciding.
Should the State have a role in prohibiting adult men from having sex with 8 year old girls (PBHN)? Or a bank fraudster from setting up a fake account and charging people fees? These are moral issues, too.
No. The only real debate is source of morality/. One should default to “the least state possible”, arguably, but….to say there should be no role in morality may go too far.

Both the above examples are exploitative of other(s). Does it really matter what the source of authority is in such cases?
But perhaps I should have added “where one party is not exploited by another”.

I’m fascinated by how the article implies homosexuality only happens in the West. If the author is suggesting it comes from the US in particular, hopefully he can be reassured that Christians here are still praying the gay away. Which works about as well as his method of censorship. May the non-existent god save us all.

Those unfortunate parents who live in Kenya! Whatever shall they do? First, they can’t send their children to school lest they become gay or lesbian. Now they can’t allow their offspring to watch television lest they become gay or lesbian. Soon, it will become incumbent on the parents to educate and entertain their youth twenty-four hours a day!
Otherwise, the youth will have no choice but to observe the corrupt and greedy politicians who, in turn, will teach them how to grow up and become……corrupt and greedy!
Naked hugs, my blogging patriarch!

Sweet freakin jeebus. Having kids, I have watched ALL of those cartoons. If any of them promoted gay lifestyles I sure missed it…
Surprised they didn’t get SpongeBob while they were at it.

I am surprised they didn’t stop people from watching news.
Your filters are not working well. Just observe your young ones and you will see they became gay after watching those cartoons.
I can tell you I am sick of this shit. It is a py to view service. The % of Kenyans who watch it must be miniscule.

Alright, I’ll keep an eye on them 🙂
That sistuation would not sit well with me either. Any person who feels they have the “morality” to judge for everyone else is a pathetic piece of shit.
