    Bless Aunty BBC.

So, I didn’t watch the whole thing, but is there a conclusion; time or gravity? And what will this new physics look like?

Just love Jim Al-Khalili’s expositions. Doesn’t he just demonstrate the true wonder of the world, the universe and everything. Far more exciting than mythology (though my writer does like a few myths too – at least for metaphorical story telling purposes).

A really interesting program… especially concerning the topics I’ve been trying to explain over at Mel’s blog to reveal his deep misunderstanding of physics. The takeaway point from this program is to realize that gravity is exactly the right force – measured and showing differences at elevation, with speed – that matches time. This indicates to me that gravity is a function of time, which helps reveal why in quantum fields/states we find ‘space’ (as in ‘distance’ between objects or point so reference) is the human construct (there is no such ‘thing’); the continuum popularized as ‘space-time’ is really just time itself – a state that allows relationships between particles to exist in time (and why we can’t capture the wave function to contain both time and location).

Anyway, very cool stuff and well worth the 1.5 hours! Thanks, Mak.

  4. Gravity sucks, that why I want to marry it.

But seriously folks, tildeb’s comment above is interesting because it highlights what we still don’t know about our universe and larger cosmos. I support Einstein’s view that gravity is not a force, but simply the manifested nature of the fabric of space-time.

    Just so you know.
