This is how a first world country slowly becomes a third world country: by teaching a proportion of successive generations of children how not to think well, to turn into adults who think poorly. And to better understand why this matters, consider that the top 10% of students in China unencumbered by such fundamental lies outnumber all the students who will graduate in the US. That’s the competition each US student faces in the marketplace and the US is failing to meet this challenge.

We don’t teach such bullshit here man ๐
I think there is a problem with a select religious demographic in the US

Where did you get your data on the Chinese students?

Are you measuring who qualifies as top 10% by GPA?

Nope. It’s a generic top 10%. (out of every 100%, you will have a top 10%, no?).

I’m confused about is what you mean by including the word “top,” if you’re not using GPA or some other score. Top in terms of what variable or measurement?
Are you just saying 10% of all students in China who will graduate college represent more people than the total amount of students who will graduate from college in the U. S.?
Or are you saying the top 10% of Chinese graduates (the best of the best students) consist of more people than the total amount of college graduates in the U. S.? And if so, how did you measure that they’re the best of the best (the top 10%) if you’re not using GPA as the tool of measurement?

I wrote some lyrics a while back, titled Dumbass Nation. Here is some of the last verse:
Preacher says ya don’t need
an education
Keep em stupid for the money
Dont need no science
to be compliant
lets be a dumb ass nation
I’ve been doing quite a bit of recording of late. I have a friend who pretty much has a studio he can put in his car. Anyway, I will get around to recording that soon-ish ๐

A dumb ass nation is a good nation. Pliant to the elite

Exactly. I knew a guy, perhaps the best friend I have had in this life. He died from brain cancer a few years back… Anyway his wife is a Penetecostal from hell, and one day I called to talk to my friend, he wasn’t there, and I wound up talking to her a few minutes.
She apparently reverted to a common theme among her churchy friends, and forgot who she was actually talking to (we were talking education at the time) and she blurted out something along the lines of “those college professors, they don’t know nuthin!” I was like wtf? I wanted to say yeah, they are only highly trained experts in their fields of study, but with my respect for her husband only managed a “hey, umm I gotta go”
Moral of the story, this is the type of thing preachers routinely harp on. They know that once a x-ian expands their education and begins to understand the real world has a high probability of letting the religion lapse. So they proactively preach about all the evils of a real college education. I have proof in the pudding.

Education is not good for dogma. I don’t know how those who continue holding to it after getting an education manage it

The offending school that used this test is now closed due to lack of funding.
So there’s that at least.

The irony in that.
