Resist

Well, that is all we are doing at the moment.

America, sending thoughts and prayers will not solve your gun problems. Demilitarize. Make education and healthcare affordable. Bring down your prisons. Stop the war on drugs, war on terror and whatever war it is tRump maybe thinking of starting. Instead, decriminalize drugs, build rehabilitation centres for addicts.

Your war on terror is stupid. You kill each other because of stupid gun laws. Your army is busy killing people elsewhere in the name of making America safe. Maybe, what the world needs is common sense at the top. Not tRumps, Zumas, Dutertes or our clowns.

Keep well everyone. I will visit your blogs soon. Just a little caught up with resisting but I am ok.

Cheers

. . . and do this by throwing out the corporate Democrats and electing progressives to overtake the party.

Apt suggestions, Mak. Unfortunately hell will freeze over before any of it happens. We vote in one president and he repeals all the progress the previous one made, then we vote in another and he repeals all the progress the previous one made….and we go in this endless circle of bullshit where nothing will ever improve. Our parties can find no reasonable middle ground and are chained to extreme ideologies. Not to mention the vast majority of people here DO think things will improve if they simply pray about it. What a total f’ing mess.

If the parties can find no reasonable middle ground, let the people organize themselves and demand that from the party. I thought you have a representative democracy and with all the town halls and council meetings, you should be able to get things done.
Two, as an economic powerhouse, your standard of education should be high enough to allow robust debate on what would benefit the majority.

There are a few problems to those proposals. One is that our population is so damn large and diverse, no one can agree on anything. Two, I’ve found our reps at every gov’t level pander to big corporations instead of people…I’m not sure if you’d call that corruption or greed (maybe it’s both). Three, as income inequality rages out of control, the poorer 99% have less and less power and ability to negotiate, while the richest 1% have ever increasing resources and powerful allies. Our education system is a mess because the rich have created private school networks for themselves and defunded the public schools, who are left with no resources to educate the populace. It’s a complex set of problems that outsiders tend to minimize.

The economy might also be tanking. These thieves have borrowed so much and done nothing with it, well, they have borrowed and stolen. The future doesn’t look good at all.

Like Brazil, it seems you guys need a technocrat govt, perhaps for ten years.

Yikes! I don’t know what to do to help. That leaves both you and I stuck with nothing but prayers for your country’s salvation. Shit, you know it’s grim when we have to leave it up to Yahweh.

If all else fails you’d be welcome here in MN, who considers themselves to be friends of all Africans. Trump hasn’t banned Kenyans (yet), and since you’re a professional architect and healthy, they’d actually let you in our craptastic country. Then again, I’d understand if you’d prefer to remain in your Motherland.

I think that YOU. my Kenyan brother, should be the next American president. You are a damn sight better than the idiot now. Besides, he has no clear-cut policy on anything other than his next money-making scheme. Stay well my friend and be safe. Naked hugs!
