Charitable reading of the bible

Mathew 6:26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?

Can this, in our times, be read as an injunction against greed and over accumulation of wealth and material goods, some of which we have no use for and instead think about those things that no thief can steal from us, you know, like art, works of science and so on. If we really claim to be better than the higher animals, we need to show it in our deeds.

No thief, whatever his arms, can deprive me of what I know. He can kill me, yes, but it doesn’t benefit him not humanity to deprive me of my life. Our current economic system that survives on extraction, exploitation and on the belief that the more we have, the happier we are likely to be only to discover with constant ads, we desire to accumulate more useless things.

Or maybe we are destined to kill ourselves because we all want to extract and exploit our next door neighbour, who knows?
