spammers are stupid

In this post I wrote yesterday, the second and third paragraphs give a background of my beliefs until deconversion a few years ago. Then I get this comment in my spam

Hello! Just curious, I just stumbled upon your blog – sorry don’t know the history etc. Have you ever had a religious – spiritual belief previous to your naturalist view?

Can’t they even try to be smart? It should not be hard, no?

  1. Good grief, how difficult is it to bloody well *read* it?????

Probably this person only read the first paragraph and then jumped to the comment form. I have seen it quite often that commenters do not take effort to actually (carefully) read a post before leaving a reply, no matter the subject.

I think they get kicks out of hurting others. Some are easier to blowoff than others. I do love that delete button !

Delete permanently works very well. I check spam only because sometimes comments by people who follow this blog end there. I would otherwise be doing bulk actions

Me too. I have no idea why people who I know would go into spam folder at all.
            But they do.
It has been something I have had to work on. I so want to reply to emails and facebook comments and blog comments of haters but it is so much easier, less draining, healthier, to just press delete! Why fight with someone who will never even try to see your side or care anyway

  4. You need sarcasm for such people, Mak. Convince them you’re secretly an agent of Satan, bent on getting everyone to the afterparty that is Hell. Make sure you record their responses for everyone else.

I’ve played Devil’s advocate (literally) on several occasions in real life when faced with someone with a particularly intolerant religious view. Be they Christian fundamentalist or anti-religion New Atheist, they usually back away fairly quickly, although obviously for very different reasons. This is one situation where my autistic traits such as lack of eye contact, facial expressions, body language, and voice intonation works in my favour. It’s less effort on my part than acting “normal”, and to the fundamentalist, it really seems like I have sold my soul to the devil 🙂

Spam makes me what to drive nails in my arms, especially with religious zealots. Like really how hard is it to read. GRRR!!!! Let me go down some cheesecake and calm my nerves. Spam makes me want to just slap the spammer through the information highway

  7. […] This post by Mak got me thinking about all the times I’ve been accused of secretly advocating devil worship – or at the least being fooled by Satan. People will read something I’ve written about religion and just plainly ignore it. Threatening me with eternal hellfire will work because it’s flashy. Or something. […]

I think perhaps if people simply proof-read whatever they type before they post it, the amount of “spam” or whatever, would be seriously reduced. Sometimes, my Kenyan brother, we just have to chuckle to ourselves and move on. Our world is a very interesting place! Naked hugs!

  9. I get religious folks subscribing to my blog fairly regularly who I KNOW did not read a single post in it. Once they see “Jesus” or “Christian” in a title or a tag, they assume I’m a bus driver for da lawd. What a surprise they’d get should they actually read anything there. Ugh!

You too? I have around 1250 “Followers” and get more everyday … from Christians (and I know that by the “suggested posts” in the email notification)! But what’s even MORE surprising is when one of them “likes” a post that is so obviously “un-Christian.” SMH

      • Yeah, I get those too. I did one post on stuff I thought Jesus SHOULD have said, just a bunch of silly shit, but, I got multiple likes from people like “God’s Love” and “Loving Christian”, etc. Now, if Jesus were real, I’m certain HE’D get a kick outta that post, but I sincerely doubt the Christians who said they liked it would actually like it if they’d actually read it. Oh, how easily the lazy mind bends. I shoulda been a bridge salesman. I’d be a billionaire by now.

Maybe we should all do a post to ask a few of them to explain why they like posts that are critical of religion

  11. You’re asking too much. They have to try. Lol
What a dumb thing to ask. Let me answer for you.

Yes dumb ass he was once Christian. Hmm 10 seconds reading nearly any of his posts or comments you’d know this.

Now move on and let him post the stuff we his readers like reading about..

    Thanks
    Me
