About the city of Ai

And Joshua burned Ai and made it a mound forever, a desolation to this day And he hanged the king of Ai on a tree until the evening, and when the sun set Joshua have a command, and they threw his corpse down from the tree and three it down at the entrance of the city’s gate and set up a big pile of stones over him to this day

If any one has an idea where Ai is and whether archaeologists have found the bones of the king, let me know. I want to visit Ai.

  1. as usual, there are various candidates for Ai, which simply means ‘the ruin”. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Et-Tell

That’s the most interesting thing with the nomenclature in the old testament. Place names or even people’s names refer to either things or events. It can be so confusing.

It must have been a city of 30 people. It was taken down so easily!

I guess that is propaganda. The name was obviously given after its destruction. I doubt there are reliable historical records from that time. The biblical stories seem to be a mix of oral tradition and invention and they are obviously not objective. This is mythology that might have a historical core, but one should not take it as history.

Somewhere between Jupiter and Mars? East of Suez and West of Gibraltar? Seriously, I haven’t a clue and to my knowledge, I’ve never even knew anything about it until I read your post. Among other things, I am biblically illiterate. Good luck finding the place. If you ever go, make certain you let the nearest Kenyan embassy know you’re there! Naked hugs!
