I have seen many a person so infatuated with themselves, where they believe they are best thing since the ball bearing mousetrap. They are so smart, so important, so tough, I see them as the dumbest pricks in the room. tRump is a fine example.
Nietzsche apparently feels the same way of philosophers. I don’t know any professional philosophers personally, but from what I have seen of some of their writings, I believe Nietzsche might be on to something.

I don’t know who it was that said, if lions were to write of the hunt, it would be told differently. This seems to be the case with us. We have false ideas of ourselves

Nietzche see’s the human condition that is blind to ego. Perhaps the ego, a normal construct of the psyche’s desire to survive, has gotten completely confused with every living things’ drive to survive? Who can really know any of this with our limited brains? Have a good day.

I think that it must be impossible to judge what drives the salmon, the butterfly, the mosquito, the human, unless you’re in the skin itself of one of them. I’d not call it ego, but basic survival.
Part of survival (articulated or not) is procreation: from single celled creatures to the complex organisms of men or elephants or mice, reproduction is what drives us all. As humans we like to dress it up with language, but at the bottom, it’s procreation that makes the world go round, no matter how many legs, how many sets of wings, how ever many shells or scales or teeth.
And I agree, Maka, perspective has a lot to do with which side of the chase you’re involved in.

Nietzsche in the same article says we misuse words a lot; sometimes a person calls themselves rich when the right word would be poor

We think. Therefore, we are. Hence, we are the center of the universe and everyone in his/her right mind wants to be us and emulate us. Petty nonsense. We live then we die and we are replaced by a newer and better model. Naked hugs!
