In this article, Adipo says of atheists
The atheist traveller on the hand contrary argues he knows there exists no such bridge and challenges the theist traveller to prove otherwise.
and while i don’t claim to speak for all atheists, I can say without fear of contradiction that most atheists would argue they have no belief in the existence of god(s) but would generally revise their belief should evidence be made available. The above does not equate to saying no gods exists, which is the point Adipo is making in his argument. It can actually be argued that agnostics live their life with the belief that sufficient evidence for gods have not been proven, that is, like atheists.
And while he seems to avoid discussing the gods, he seems to me, in his final comment to make a species of the gods, creator gods, irrelevant. He says
Space and time are both metaphysical and infinite – beyond anyone’s cause.
and I don’t disagree. This position puts paid the argument of a god living out of space and time.
And I think there are good reasons to mock religion.
…and I would suggest the theist traveller prove otherwise. 🙂 As you mention, if they could prove otherwise, most of us would reconsider our position. The baseless claims to date have been an offense to reason.
I must have an atheist chicken. It says mock mock mock mock….mock mock mock mock mock. I know, It’s too early for a stupid joke 😉

2 things which mitigate an atheistic disavowal:
1. A physical world (i.e., space and time) is not evidence of there being no God. A causal is missing.
2. Just as an FYI – not intending to be affirming – but, the phrasal ‘This position puts paid . . . ‘ is figurative, metaphorical. The word ‘put’ is also the name of a Biblical person; Just as ‘puts paid’ is figurative rather than literal, a Biblical ‘put’ as person rather than verb evidences a possible remnant of God having confused mankind’s language. Genesis 11:1-9
In other words, the physical is known, but so too ‘known’ is the ‘unknown’.

Wow, you really believe that story in Genesis explains the different dialects we have? What next? Talking asses and walking snakes?
It seems you didn’t read what I wrote: there is a belief in a god who created time and space. This variety of god cannot exist if time and space are infinite and without a creator. What causal you claim to be missing I don’t know.

“…but so too ‘known’ is the ‘unknown.” MIC drop! Best argument EVER!!! Right? We can “know” the “unknown” yet still claim to not really “know” it! Did someone say, “Inerrant argument?” I mean, COME ON!!! Brilliant! We “know” the “unknown” through…faith? Magic? Wishful thinking? Naw. Here’s a fact: “This Book is not to be doubted…. As for the unbelievers, it is the same whether or not you forewarn them; they will not have faith. God has set a seal upon their hearts and ears; their sight is dimmed and grievous punishment awaits them.”
Quran 2:1/2:6-2:10
Now, THIS is what’s KNOWN!! The Quran CAN NOT be doubted. It says so RIGHT IN THE BOOK!!! Thus, all other faiths, including Christianity, are B.S.! I KNOW this! It’s WRITTEN IN THE GOD DAMNED BOOK!!! There is no “unknown known.” Islam is real. The Quran says so. Islam is all that’s needed. All else is lies. Allahu Akbar

I am confused. The unknown is known. So how is it unknown?

It is supposed to mean a ‘state of things as unknown’ is known. We know some things are unknown to us; Thus knowing ‘of’ the unknown.
For example, we don’t know the winner of the Super Bowl but we know we don’t know the winner – at this time anyway.

Wait metaphors are now proof of God? lol Please. lol
Who is making the claim that the physical world is evidence of there being no God? That is not the atheist’s argument. Also we don’t know if a causal is missing. The first cause argument is full of logical flaws.

What is the atheists argument if not, ‘The physical world is perceivable so it exists but I can’t perceive God so he/she doesn’t exist.’?

No, that’s not the atheists argument. On the contrary, it is the believer that says the physical world exists, so god. The atheist says only deduction we can make is there is a physical world

You really don’t understand atheists arguments real well.
I think we’re all fine with some divine being outside time and space. But to my knowledge, the Bible and other Holy books are full of claims of that being interacting with our own universe. Thus it is actually on you to demonstrate this to be the case. Whether it’s God shaping evolution, performing miracles, or getting you that great job that you never could have gotten without divine intervention, theists are awash in claims of God being connected to this reality from wherever he/she resides. That is what we want you to prove, and we continue to wait. The atheist position is the null hypothesis, theists are the ones making claims.

Meaning if there is some divine being relegated to some other area outside our reality…well that being is fine to stay there, but as soon as claims are made that that being can interact with our reality, well then this constitutes proof. Otherwise it’s meaningless.

An aseitic being would have no impacts on our reality, though, so effectively and for a human perspective he does not “exist”. I agree with everything else. 🙂

A causal is missing? Says who? You know there is another option, there is no need for cause. Sometimes shit happens and we get a universe.
Just because you have some inherent need for a cause doesn’t necessarily mean the rest of us do. A cause in this case is what the typical YEC needs to make their silly argument from design. We ain’t buying it.

I guess someone thinks we haven’t already devoted many, many, years now, giving religion a chance to prove its case. Years of brushing up on our science, philosophy, fallacies illogical, and indeed even their own magic books.
The evidence isn’t there. It always comes down to, “you just gotta believe.” Some of us just arent wired up that way. Some of us fall for it for decades then see religion for the horseshit it really is, and some of us can’t get through life without an imaginary friend who really really loves them, but will send them to hell to burn for an eternity if they fuck up.
Yeah, we are the dumb ones…

Excellent comment. This is why I believe this: “The only true faith in God’s sight is Islam.”
Quran 3:19
All Christians, Jews, etc are atheists in God’s eyes for they worship lies and blasphemes. All discussion on religion has been made mute by the Quran. ” If you doubt what We have revealed to Our servant, produce one chapter comparable to it. Call upon your idols to assist you, if what you say be true. But if you fail (as you are sure to fail) then guard yourselves against the Fire whose fuel is men and stones, prepared for the unbelievers.”
Quran 2:23-4
Nothing is unknown when it comes to God. All truth is revealed in the Quran. There is no arguing with such an inerrant book. Allahu Akbar 😀
