The backroom after hours crap is infuriating. Kill em! Now dammit! It’s almost like they can’t help themselves. But, it’s a short lived high—they’ll be back.

The part about the family being rectivimised caught my eye. It’s like a delay in the execution is bad for the family. They have waited for years!

This is where I like Sam Harris’ views on freewill and understanding the faulty wiring relieves the need for vengeance. Religion typically nurtures vengeance, not the other way around.

A life for a life, I think is what it is. What is the view of the majority on this issue?

Here it’s pretty split down the middle between left and right. Weird

This is why we need to draw and quarter criminals: they’ll be split 4 ways, not just down the middle. What’s NOT to like?

Quarter and kill them without a hearing. Why go through the middleman- the courts?

A life for a life. What purpose does it perform? Is it for deterrence, punishment, or revenge? I support Amnesty International contention that *The death penalty is a symptom of a culture of violence, not a solution to it.* This would be the view of the majority of Kiwis irrespective of religiosity.

I think it serves as revenge and punishment.

I like his ideas on that, too.

Indeed. The sick, evil sickness that is Trump and the GOP will live on for 5 or 6 decades due to the Supreme Court justices Trump has appointed. He’s also stacking federal courts with right-wing nut jobs all over the country. Abortions will soon be illegal, and women will be jailed for having one. Executions will not only be done, but the pace of them will accelerate. The ugliness of this is just beginning.

This is one of the reason the US will eventually break up – one way to get rid off a “conservative” SCOTUS would be to leave the Union. The ultimate irony of states rights…

Probably right. Sure is looking that way. BTW, I’m running for the Senate in 2020 on the issue of placing gas chambers and crematoriums throughout America to help deal with illegal immigration. It’s gaining a lot of momentum right now. I’m gonna add to my platform by advocating the use of drawing and quartering as America’s only use for executions. If this were done regularly and quickly, and if it were televised live, crime in America would end. Period. This, along with my insistence that America adopt a Christian theocracy as its way to govern, SHOULD, at the very least, get me the votes of every Christian evangelical in my state. I’m hopeful for my chances. $Amen$

Why start with senate? Just run for president

Well, we’ve got such an outstanding President now, I wouldn’t wanna split the conservative Christian vote with my superb ideas. Wadda think of my drawing and quartering idea? Great, ain’t it? Slowly draw and quarter criminals on nationwide, live TV and I ASSURE you, crime will take a steep drop. Gas and cremate illegals; implement a Christian theocracy, and slowly draw and quarter criminals on live TV. Dude, ain’t NO way in hell I CAN’T win the Senate with these ideas!

At present, they can’t get rid of a conservative court. The federal courts are getting right wing judges too

Maybe eventually you guys will have a Christian right for president and it will be a theocracy.

I hope so. If I have anything to say about it, that’ll happen. 😀 First the Senate, and then the world!!!!

Of course you realise that if it’s a Christian theocracy, Christian babies will be off the menu. You might want to re-appraise your choice of candidate.

Mr. Price’s execution was called off due to the delay:
https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2019/04/12/alabama-inmate-christopher-lee-price-execution-postponed/3445091002/
The state must now petition the court for a new execution date.
And what any of this has to do with Mr. Trump is beyond me.

Who has named tRump?
The article is clear on why the execution was called off. Or that portion about the conservative judges arguing executions should happen sooner was erased from the article as you were reading?

The political affiliation of the justices is irrelevant to the case. Mr. Price was convicted and sentenced to death in 1999 for a crime committed in 1991. Since then he’s filed several unsuccessful motions to avert being executed. It’s now 2019. How much longer should they wait?

Until morning, maybe. That’s what Beyer asked for, no?

To me it’s a moot point, because the decision was made after the execution deadline had passed. So Mr. Price’s delaying tactic worked and he’s bought himself a bit of extra time — again.

Who would fault a man for wanting to live a day longer anyway? As long as one can appeal, I would allow them that opportunity. Death is so final.
LikeLike
Final . . . and inevitable. I can’t fault someone for wanting to extend their life. But an honorable man would show remorse for the crimes he’s committed by accepting his fate. Mr. Price — unfortunately — is not such a man.

Ron, I think he has accepted his fate. His problem is with how to meet that fate.

The U.S. Supreme Court allows a lifetime appointment which is totally absurd. The Justices should serve and eight year term and then be retired with no re-appointment permitted.
