Nairobi- Meru- Nanyuki bike tour

This was a 300km bike tour. On day 1, we covered 225km and decided that was enough work and found ourselves a good place to sleep and relax the muscles. After being on the saddle for close to 10hrs, my butt felt like a fire had been lit below it.

But I go ahead of myself. This trip has been in the oven since February when we (with others not in the present tour) attempted this ride and yours truly abandoned the ride 160+km in. I wasn’t giving up this time round. The many runs and practice rides paid off.

Keep it here for the next tour. Hopefully I will get a sponsor for a GoPro camera which will mean you have longer videos of the tours.

Nice! Sounds ambitious. The blue Giant bike is PRETTY! After watching One Cyclist in Lisbon and SAFA Brian videos, I want a GoPro, too! 🙂

I actually rode last night after work. It was 97 degrees F where I live, so I hopped in the car and drove a bit. It was 75 where I rode! Much nicer, despite the marine winds! 🙂 I did a weird ride…over a major bridge that has a bike lane, then through the “sacrifice zone” along San Pablo Bay. Oil refineries, freeway overpasses, a trash recycling yard, a surviving marsh…and a gun club! It was not scenic, but it was…interesting.

(Sacrifice Zone: Heavy industrial wastelands sacrificed to support our modern lifestyles!)

  2. Glad to see you’re getting out.
This video is 4 years ago, a test video with my vidcam that is a heck of a lot cheaper than a GoPro. I was holding it while driving the scooter, but I have since mounted it to my helmet so it follows my head movements. You can see how un-busy this town is, so it’s easy to keep our distance from people.

Oof. As I was telling Maka via email….an idiot woman backing out of her driveway blindly missed me by INCHES., (Millimeters). 😦

Another driver kindly stopped and asked me if I was OK. People can be good sometimes.
