This was a 300km bike tour. On day 1, we covered 225km and decided that was enough work and found ourselves a good place to sleep and relax the muscles. After being on the saddle for close to 10hrs, my butt felt like a fire had been lit below it.
But I go ahead of myself. This trip has been in the oven since February when we (with others not in the present tour) attempted this ride and yours truly abandoned the ride 160+km in. I wasn’t giving up this time round. The many runs and practice rides paid off.
Keep it here for the next tour. Hopefully I will get a sponsor for a GoPro camera which will mean you have longer videos of the tours.
Nice! Sounds ambitious. The blue Giant bike is PRETTY! After watching One Cyclist in Lisbon and SAFA Brian videos, I want a GoPro, too! 🙂
I actually rode last night after work. It was 97 degrees F where I live, so I hopped in the car and drove a bit. It was 75 where I rode! Much nicer, despite the marine winds! 🙂 I did a weird ride…over a major bridge that has a bike lane, then through the “sacrifice zone” along San Pablo Bay. Oil refineries, freeway overpasses, a trash recycling yard, a surviving marsh…and a gun club! It was not scenic, but it was…interesting.
(Sacrifice Zone: Heavy industrial wastelands sacrificed to support our modern lifestyles!)

That was an interesting ride, that ride of yours.
Ambition should be added to my name. We are planning some monster rides soon though their elevation may not be as steep.
I don’t know who to convince to get me a go pro. These rides need to be recorded. Like the descents- rolling down to 70kph!

You are inspiring me to do more climbing, Maka! Being “not thin” I tend to avoid it.

I think I lost most of my weight doing hill reps well, plus other things

My clothes are actually getting much looser, despite the ice cream. I guess 300 mile weeks, it is hard to eat “enough”, even bad stuff.

With long rides, it is hard to eat enough. You will definitely shed some weight. I should have ice cream to reward myself for hard work

I watched the first safa Brian today! And I got stressed https://youtu.be/oLEY8gXBd9k

It makes me dizzy as hell! In one of them, he basically threaded his way though muddy ruts between cars and leaped potholes! I have always been an utter coward (except for the reality that ANY road riding is objectively dangerous!)

once you get on the bike to ride on the road, you throw cowardice outta the window.

One time I was going down a hill like that when I was 17.
90 degree left turn I never saw.
I flew right off a cliff. My bike went down and I went straight flying laid out like Superman.
I told myself
“I’m 17 and gonna die today.”
I landed on my back in a bush and not a scratch. My bike was a pretzel. I had to walk home miles and miles.
My favorite comment. from the Fear the Deer video.

That was my first question to the ER doctor after I broke my collar bone. “When can I ride again”?

That was the question I asked the guy who was treating me when i had the fall. Can I ride?

Glad to see you’re getting out.
This video is 4 years ago, a test video with my vidcam that is a heck of a lot cheaper than a GoPro. I was holding it while driving the scooter, but I have since mounted it to my helmet so it follows my head movements. You can see how un-busy this town is, so it’s easy to keep our distance from people.

I will see what I can get. I saw a Polaroid sports camera, half the price of a GoPro.

Yeah, sometimes we’re just paying for a name, & I don’t go for that.

Another driver kindly stopped and asked me if I was OK. People can be good sometimes.

Yes, sometimes. Maybe that driver cycles sometimes. I find those to be generally nice. Or those who have friends who cycle.
