As of this writing the Nairobi governor, Sonko, has been impeached and the city will have to go to by election to have a new governor. What I am yet to understand is how a populist with little to no education nor experience in governance could have been elected to lead the most populous city in this nation.
This has been my most active year in sports. I managed 9500km on bike, 500km of runs and another 30km of hikes. I have managed to get a sports related injury, if you leave out the bike crashes.
This year long pandemic should just end.
Those elections happen to the best of cities/countries.

I know. But it is just sad.
How are you doing?

Don’t be sad. BE MAD!
I wake up mad every morning.

I’m committed TO being mad every day until the pandemic is lassoed and the leader is on the other end of the rope. Figuratively of course. ๐

Why figuratively? ๐๐คญ๐

Hopefully it will be resolved. But I fear not soon.

There are a few days to January 20th. Trump and his team of friends should start accepting of reality

I am too cynical to be mad. We get the politicians we deserve. It’s a vicious circle.

Yes. And once you are resigned to it, you can’t be mad. You begin to look at your fellow country folks with a different eye- how can so many people be led by so few foolish people

Partly because we ourselves are so many foolish people

I don’t know how worse it would be if public education wasn’t as accessible

education is not necessarily “the answer” there are many “educated” people who believe utter nonsense. See, for example, the Ivy League educated members of the aristocracy who got the United States into the Vietnam War.

Unfortunately.
Once upon a time I thought an educated citizenry would act differently but I have come to believe that in politics just like in many things in life, education may not be that influential.
I don’t know who said it, that we were not meant to be clever or something of the kind.

Demand a new Pinarello Dogma, Maka. And a fleet of gravel bikes, city bikes, and mountain bikes. In your new role, you can forbid private automobiles on nice cycling roads!

As veepee, my security detail should consist of bikers only. Where we have dual carriage, one lane is for bikes

Yeah, we have that problem here too… Looks like it may be over soon, but I cannot rest comfortably until Biden gets sworn in. I do like ladysighs idea! Figuratively or literally ๐
You make me feel lazy with all of that activity. My idea of excercise is walking the dogs. If that sounds silly, try walking a labradane and a pit bull, who insist on running, play fighting, and constantly at war over whatever stick of the day they drag up. Like 5 times a day. I often come in tired, sweaty, and nursing my bad back. I wish I was on a bike ride lol.

I think walking dogs is considered exercise.

My favorite dog walking story involved my three rather poorly trained dogs (my fault, of course). We were walking down a very steep hill when a deer bolted across the road in front of us. That was…interesting. How I did not drop the leash or get pulled so hard I fell I do not know to this day!

Well, let’s talk dogs then ๐
We had one show up on our porch couple years back. It didn’t go anywhere, so I fed it. Then we had a dog.
My son gets a dog from the pound, they tell him they think it’s a Pit/Lab mix. Now it’s almost 8 mo. old and is big enough to put a saddle on. We think it’s a Labradane. And he ain’t done growing yet. Damn near jerked my arm out of socket several times now.
Then one evening we had a white Pit Bull show up. I immediately had a caution light go off in my head (“warning! Pit Bull, Warning!)
Turns out he is a great dog, some idiot obviously dropped him off out in the country and we got adopted by yet another dog.
The Pit is a pretty good stay close to home dog. The other 2 require a leash as they tend to run. Anyway when the Pit and the Labradane decide to play, and they do every single time they are out, I get a work out. They have a ball, but it’s usually at my expense. And when the ground is wet, I go for a ride more than I really like. Ever been mud skating? ๐
They are all a PITA, right up till you see em all sleeping in a pile. Then you know it’s all worth it.
You can’t let your attention lapse for a moment when walking them, I have leash burned hands, skint up britches, aches and pains, all associated from a dog hitting the end of the leash when I wasn’t ready for it. ๐

The YouTube algorithm fed me a channel from an owner of a gentle but enormous Cane Corso dog. 150 pounds. The dog accidentally ran into his wife while she was playing with him, and broke her collar bone! ๐ฆ

Amazing stats, Maka! You will be back on the bike again soon!
I looked at my computer today and it appears I have ridden over 7,000 miles since June. An acquaintance rode every other day this year and had 300,000 feet of climbing!!!! ๐
I am hoping for more rain so I can be forced to take a break. My knees are demanding it!!!!

Man, you ride a lot! 11K km since June. Your knees deserve a break.
Now some guy did 1000km in 2 days last weekend. I think that is just insane

There were people riding in the rain last weekend. Cold rain (high 40s F). I am obsessive…but not THAT obsessive.

I only ride in the rain if it finds me already riding but I can never leave the house with the rain. I do that however when I run.
