Possible human extinction due to low sperms count

According to this article, if men don’t change their ways, especially those in the west, sperms count will go to zero by 2045. Now I don’t know about you, but this is not alarming news. Species come and go & if we can speed our departure, why not?

I’m certain that all the other species inhabiting on this planet, Earth, will endorse your philosophy! Good news for any endangered species! Naked hugs, my Kenyan brother! 🙂 Have a great weekend!

Actually it’s bad news for most endangered species here, which is almost all native and endemic species. Without massive levels of support from humans most will be extinct in less than 100 years, even our iconic kiwi.

It’s true that humans brought in the predators (rats, stoats, weasels, possums, dogs, cats etc) that are now devastating our flora and fauna, but unless we eliminate them before our demise, hundreds, if not thousands, of bird, insect, reptile species, and just as many plant species will disappear almost overnight.

NZ ecology evolved without mammals and neither flora nor fauna evolved in the presence of heavy predation. Reproduction rates are very low for most species. For example several species of kiwi produce one chick per year. Where there is minimal predator control, less than one chick in twenty makes it to adulthood. Adult kiwi are capable of fending off rats stoats and weasels, but not large dogs. Currently dogs are not a major problem but that would quickly change in the absence of humans. They would become the apex predator.

Where there is significant predator control, about one in ten kiwi survive to adulthood, which is sufficient to maintain the population and allow some growth as kiwi are long lived. But dogs would tip the balance completely. The same applies to every native and endemic animal species here.

Without human intervention even entire forests die due to mammalian predation. Between them, possums, rats and mice consume foliage and seeds faster that they can be produced. No matter how you look at it, the dire situation of many species in the country would be much worse without the presence of humans. Of course, if humans had not arrived here around 800 years ago, these islands would still be an avian paradise. Unfortunately that genie has been lest out of the bottle.

Goals have been set to make Aotearoa New Zealand predator free by 2050, but this will fail if considerably more resources aren’t allocated to eradication. Most resources currently go into control.

Barry: Off topic but are you OK? 7.3 and tsunami warnings sounds scary

Yes we’re fine. Was woken up in the wee hours by are moderate shake lasting for almost a minute, I’ve experience so many quakes in my life I’m rather blasé about them. Too be honest i rather enjoy the ride. It seems it was felt over over most of the country. We had a few items fall off shelves but no serious damage.

Less than an hour ago another quake, 7.4 occurred to the north of the North Island for which a tsunami warning has been issued.

The trouble with earthquakes is you can never be sure if its the main one or a pre-shock for a bigger one. You can only be sure in hindsight.

  2. My sperm haven’t been able to count since I was in the 12th grade. Before that, they could count up to 567 before they got tired and gave up.

As best I can tell, people have been worrying about loss of fertility for a long time. Nevertheless, the human population of the world continues to grow.

You guys ignored the red flag: It doesn’t count if your brown lesser races breed We are only worried about the PURE WHITE RACE and its extinction. It is, of course, the fault entire of the 5% of the population who are gay.

Do “trans women” still produce sperm, or do the puberty blockers woke parents are feeding their 13 year olds take care of that?

I don’t know Mak. I recall similar dire warnings back in the 1970s, and if I recall correctly predictions were that we’d become an infertile species by around now. I recall all sorts of theories why it might be – from snug fitting underwear to fluoridation of water, to the use of plastics, to radio waves, to more accurate counting of spermatozoa (after all, the blighters don’t don’t form neat lines or stay still during the counting process, do they). I’m sure there’s a section of the population that believe it’s all due to a plan to control and perhaps eliminate the non-elite.

Besides I think women have the most influence over reproduction rates. Here in Aotearoa, the birth rate is down to an average of 1.7 live births per woman across all ethnicities and 1.4 for caucasians. Only Pasifika women exceed the magical rate of 2.1. If it wasn’t for the fact that one in four Kiwis are immigrants, our population growth would be have stagnant for some time and about to go into freefall.

I remember when a group of scientists raised the nuclear clock when trump was elected or something whilst the whole time the dude was concerned with a space army😀
