thank god i am not a believer

because if I did and wrote something like this, I should be accused of blasphemy. The juicy part that caught my eye is

People in Hell exist. I think this is the most tragic, but also the most tragically beautiful part. Going back to Point 3: all things that exist only exist because God loves them into existence and holds them in existence through His love. Thus, the fact that people in Hell don’t just “disappear into oblivion” is because God is constantly saying to each one of those souls, “I love you, exist in my love. I love you, exist in my love.” Every single soul in Hell is as loved by God as souls in Heaven, Earth, and Purgatory. But, as Point 4 notes: Hell is a prison that is locked from the inside.

God loves you enough to keep you in hell but not to forgive you and send you to stay in heaven with him. I don’t know what understanding of love this is, but it is the kind I am sure I don’t want. I think this is hat happens when one is committed to a position that is indefensible. You try gymnastics to make it sound reasonable but it doesn’t work.

God loves, even in hell, it just will not get you out.

This mindset is how Christian theology learns to accept their insignificant status in the universe. God has his only son—we are only tolerated by his good graces. We’re orphans without even a mother here on probation—owing every breath of our existence o a master who has us here through sufferance. And we never know where we stand. I love you, but… Your lucky I don’t just wipe you all out and you’d better be grateful. What a lousy way to be brought up.

I know. When I see all the sheeple wearing masks outdoors to protect themselves against a potential illness with a 99.96% recovery rate attests to just how absurd some of those beliefs can truly be. Thankfully, more and more states are finally waking up to say “enough of this silliness” and plotting a course back to normal.

Of course! “Normal” is what we ALL want! Let me repeat that … NORMAL is what we all want!

But 518,456 Deaths in the U.S. (3/3/21) alone from COVID-19 is not normal! And if it takes some inconvenience on the part of everybody to keep that number from going any higher, so be it.

I dunno’, Ron. I know you’ve been fighting this from the beginning and I just don’t understand why you’re so dead set against ALL of us taking precautions to not only protect ourselves, but to keep it from spreading to others … friends and families as well as strangers.

I do agree that wearing a mask inside one’s own car is a little…silly…if harmless. (Certainly less harmful than Church bigots holding services or nasty Karens demanding to be served without a mask). I am also skeptical about wearing a mask outside when not in close proximity to other people. But I am not making that skepticism the basis of my politics a la California’s Governing Newsome recall.

I’ve already provided the links showing that the people most affected are:

                – over 80
                – suffer from two or more chronic health problems
                – and reside in care homes, where you would expect health precautions to be the greatest.

In one of those links the CDC reported that less than 6% of the “COVID” deaths had no pre-existing conditions.

And the highest risk factor overall is obesity:

                https://hub.jhu.edu/2020/06/01/david-kass-obesity-covid-19

                https://www.worldobesityday.org/assets/downloads/COVID-19-and-Obesity-The-2021-Atlas.pdf (long load time)

. . . which is the reason why I’ve been enthusiastically advocating for the adoption of a healthy diet, exercise, rest, hydration and fresh air for the past ten months.

The masks offer little to no protection (the side of the box they come in clearly states that they are not intended for medical use and offer no protection against COVID-19), and most likely increase your health risks because they not only impede your ability to breathe normally but also create a moist environment that becomes an ideal breeding ground for bacteria to multiply and be breathed back in.

Yes, the death rates lean towards the elderly … so does this mean only the elderly should wear masks?

I agree — CHEAP masks (which many/most people buy and wear) provide minimal protection. Nonetheless, I still contend they play a role in limiting the spread of the virus. Medical authorities continue to repeat it is the (infected) particles emanating from speech and breath and sneezes that pass on the virus. So restricting this (even with cheap masks) seems to be a good thing, IMO.

Based on the data, it’s apparent that being elderly is less of a factor than being elderly and suffering from serious health conditions, the most common of which are heart and lung disease. Obviously no change in lifestyle will correct course for those now suffering from end of life illnesses, so they will have to continue taking precautions. But the focus of attention for the rest of the population should center upon improving one’s health rather than attempting to dodge illness; and all the measures suggested to date have only served to exacerbate the situation, because alcoholism, substance abuse, suicides and domestic violence have all skyrocketed over the past year.

I used to sneer at cyclists on sidewalks as well. (And the failure to yield right of way when riding on a sidewalk the wrong way is one of my major pet peeves as well). But the reality in these Benighted States is most suburban sidewalks are pretty unpeopled. I can understand a nervous non-expert rider choosing to avoid the fleets of 6,000 pound lifted trucks (I NEED a massive Suburban Assault Vehicle for my trip to Walmart) on the typical American four or six lane vehicle sewers that pass for “streets” here. Pedestrians have the complete right of way, of course, but I am less sarcastic than I used to be about sidewalk riding.

Of course, the other reality is many of the day to day cyclists I see in my suburb are the “lost souls”. And one cannot ignore the reality that some of our homeless are riding their bikes while impaired. I saw one riding the wrong way AT NIGHT down the shoulder of a FREEWAY heading for the nearest tent camp. Dangers abound. 😦

It’s… not an improvement. It probably makes it worse in your opinion. When I say God is Holy I’m kind of saying the ocean is a little wet, maybe. He’s Holy as in he can’t stand anything that’s not. He hates it. And that’s what we are, technically. So that’s why hell exists, to separate everything that’s not holy from God. Hell exists because God is Holy, and there are beings that aren’t.

Hi, new to blogging, and I’m reading the posts, but I like to give a thought… The Bible says That God created the world ( Genesis 1:1 ) you may say big deal what’s your point, you have more faith than I do, you believe random, pre-existing elements to guide you, so my thought is how do you know you have done of enough “good Karma ” to appease the gods ? In the book of Acts in the Bible, Paul appears to men like you, you have the same thought about so-called gods or even if there are gods, these men were Epicurean and Stoic philosophers….so these men took them to Athens, Greece to the Areopagus… In Acts 17:22-33, the main point of his message and quite frankly The LORD God, is now stopping men to think they can get away with what they do, and have this one thought, He’s going to judge the world by the one whom He raised from the dead ( verse 30-31 ) to repent is turning from your sins, and placing your faith in Jesus Christ in faith( see Hebrews 11:1&6 ) and (John 3:16), if any questions, love to chat with you, lastly I do offer this with a sincere heart, Dave

The Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary, was but a messenger of Allah and His word which He directed to Mary and a soul [created at a command] from Him. So believe in Allah and His messengers. And do not say, “Three”; desist – it is better for you. Indeed, Allah is but one God. Exalted is He above having a son. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. And sufficient is Allah as Disposer of affairs.

He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of His nature, upholds the universe by the word of His power. After making purification for sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high. Hebrews 1:1-3

Lol, your asking to speak for myself, the Bible is very clear that in man there is no soundness in him, meaning man’s thoughts are on himself, we think we can please God apart from revealed truth of Gods Word, Jeremiah 10:23 “ I know, O Lord, that the way of man is not in himself, that it is not in man who walks to direct his steps” and in Jeremiah 17:5 “ Thus says the Lord; Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his strength, whose heart turns away from the Lord. And in verse 7 “ Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose trust is the Lord” and in verse 9 “ The heart is deceitful above all things and desperately sick; who can understand it? Verse 10 “ I the Lord search the heart and test the mind to give every man according to his ways according to the fruit of his deeds” here is how God sees man,
doomed by their sin. but the kindness of my God and King saved me forgiving all my sins, by placing all my sins on Jesus!! It’s not what I can do for God…no, it’s what God did for me, a penalty I could never earn or pay for, in the New Testament in Titus 2:13-14” waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave Himself to us to redeem us from ALL lawlessness and to purify for Himself a people for His own possession who are zealous for good works” I’m praying that the Holy Spirit gives you ears to hear and eyes to see,

This degenerates to simple phrase-mongering, and those who practise it are not vigilantly jealous of their meaning.

You missed the point of Mak’s comment. Jesus did not answer his accusers. All he said to Pilate when accused of being King of the Jews is … “So you say.”

The fact that Pilate (or his wife) did not condemn Jesus has nothing to do with anything. It’s just part of the story that believers choose to use to justify their belief is an itinerant Jew that liked to preach.

I need to answer this question when I’m not at work…Pilate is a Roman official, he’s not the issue, he and the Romans are the pawns Jesus allowed for redemption of the world, John 19:7-16, the conversation comes down WHO is in control of the situation, in verse 11 “you have no authority over me at all unless it had been given from above” and little before in verse 8 Pilate was more afraid !, how can you be afraid of a question never answered ?? Pilate was quickly realizing Jesus was no ordinary man, and you bet in that fear he wanted to release Jesus, however; Pilate feared man more and had Jesus crucified !! he feared Ceasar more, and sadly to his own peril. The question is going to be asked one day, who is Jesus?, and what did you about Him?, praying for your eyes to be opened.

Answer: He was an itinerant Jew who wandered throughout the countryside encouraging the Jewish people to return to Yahweh. To believe he is anything more than that is to swallow the enchanting tales spun by Paul to the Gentiles.
