Step 1: Make an assumption
Step 2: Make an assumption about the universe
Step 3: Conclude that assumption 2 is a fact. Therefore god.
Or better still, call it the Kalam cosmological argument.

Everything that begins to exist has a cause.
This is human reasoning because, yes, WE live in a world based on cause and effect. However, we cannot say with absolute certainty that this is the “standard” for the universe. We simply don’t know.
(Some) Humans think they have all the answers.

In fact, it is to assume more than we can know.
And to then proceed to argue that the universe, a thing we know so little about, must have come into existence so that our arguments can work is arrogant

it is to assume more than we can know. — Yup! And there’s one group of individuals on this planet that are experts at this!

I am reading this book titled lives and opinions of eminent philosophers. One Pherecydes in a letter to Thales says he has written a book on a subject about which there is no certain knowledge and admits he has not arrived at any truth but have advanced arguments…. if our apologists would only make this admission, progress would be made.

Amongst Quakers, there’s a concept referred to as the “absolute perhaps”. One way of understanding this is I am absolutely certain that I can’t be absolutely sure about any belief I hold as true. An oxymoron at heart, but I think the message is clear enough. It’s a shame too many ignore its wisdom.

Was it Descartes who said the only thing we can be certain of was ‘I think’ or is it ‘I think therefore I am’ the rest follow from that premise. Many of us believe they have certainty in matters where such certainty is not possible

How do we know what we can know until we know it? Life is constantly being replaced by higher forms and we never see it coming. I suspect it may take a while, but we can know everything there is to know.
