We have eaten ourselves into a genetic corner


This Guardian articles paints a very dire picture of our food situation and the loss of diversity that has brought us to this tight spot. Now I know some people don’t like the guardian or long articles but I consider this one of those pieces worth considering if for no other reason than it concerns our stomach.

    I have often said that global warming/climate change is going to affect humans far more than most of them realize. But hey! It’s the FUTURE GENERATIONS that have to worry, right? Not us!! Right?

    Yes, this is a problem. This sort of tendency is one of the flaws of free market capitalism.

    As the article says, it’s not like it’s a new discovery. It’s been known about for decades, probably centuries, but mostly ignored in pursuit of accumulating wealth. Just one of the many ways we’ve been playing Russian roulette with nature.
