Does life imitate art or art imitate life?
According to Oscar Wilde, life imitates art far more than art imitates life. This, he tells us results from the fact that art offers life certain beautiful forms through which it finds expression. He even goes on to say even nature imitates art. We see landscapes not as they are but as described by our poets, artists and so on.
On nature he says the only effects that she can show us are effects that we have already seen through poetry or in paintings.
