We must provide them with contraceptives! Why is it always the girls that have the responsibility, why not men? Women CANNOT get pregnant without a sperm. Why is it NOT the responsibility of the man to take contraceptives? It is just another form of subjugation of women!

On that count I agree with you. But he says that parents must teach their boys on safe sex.

      Omg. How about this:

People get pregnant. Women carry babies. Actually, I hear, people who were born with male sexual organs can also carry babies. I donโ€™t know if anyone is oppressing anyone else because people have ideas about what a man and a woman is, about who can have pregnancy.

It is more about a simple monetary economic fact: forcing a man or a woman, or a couple or whatever, to have to support a life that they are not ready to support.

The only reason that anyone would argue that a fetus should be saved ultimately comes from the idea that if a person gets pregnant then God meant it to be so. It is a religious argument.

Sure, yes, yes, oppression here oppression there, everyoneโ€™s got oppression in some form in their life. But the true and real basic issue of abortion has to do with someone telling someone else what to do because the former person believes that God will judge and should judge everyone.

Maybe, if we deal with this basic fact, then other forms of oppression will be mitigated. Maybe if we go to the root causes, as opposed to trying to alleviate all the symptoms, we might actually get somewhere.

But my bet is that people will always be more concerned with the symptoms than the disease.

TERRIFIC article!! Would that the anti-abortionists would read it because he most definitely makes points that many of them “conveniently” ignore.

The abortion struggle isn’t over. It is now up to the individual states to determine the process within their jurisdiction. If enough people unite, the current ruling by the stupid court could possibly be overturned. Dialogues need to begin – NOW! Naked hugs!

I don’t know why we don’t see/hear more men in the US speaking out about the ban.
I’m talking about family men …. not just a boy friend …. etc.
An unexpected child affects their lives too. They should be out there marching and protesting too. And they may well be and I’m not seeing it.

  5. It has been around since we have come down from the trees and is continuously used by bigots for their self-interested suppression of the individual in complete disregard for their health.

First, there should be no shame in having a child out of wedlock. It isn’t here as almost half of all first born children in this country are to parents not legally married. Even our Prime Minister’s first child was born out of wedlock.

Second, abortion should not never be a crime under any circumstance. It’s a medical choice made by the woman. There is no crime of abortion in this country.

Third, abortions soul be free or at a nominal cost to ensure it’s available to all as it is here. This is the situation here.

Fourth, birth control should available free or for a nominal cost to ensure it’s available to all. This is the situation for most forms here except for forms for males. I don’t understand why the distinction.

I had sex with my girlfriend, too. But unlike the author, neither of us got pregnant. There but for the grace of Aphrodite go I.
