I hear the Ark in kentucky is now operational and may soon be seafaring.
But this may have been possible, I mean deity herself was involved.
When the animals went to the ark, two by two, god insisted mosquitoes must not be left behind. How else would yellow fever, dengue fever and malaria among others spread?
We are now at a stage where humans are asking whether we should swat them. What dost thou think.
11 Now the whole earth used the same language and the same words[In chapter 10 v20 These are the sons of Ham, according to their families, according to their languages, by their lands, by their nations. What has happened to these languages or the scribe was not aware of the previous chapter?]
2 It came about as they journeyed east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar and settled there[ All migration from the garden have been eastward? I already asked how far east of east will they be going until they start going west?].
3 They said to one another, “Come, let us make bricks and burn them thoroughly.” And they used brick for stone, and they used tar for mortar. 4 They said, “Come, let us build for ourselves a city, and a tower whose top will reach into heaven, and let us make for ourselves a name, otherwise we will be scattered abroad over the face of the whole earth[I will digress a bit here and ask you dear reader to look at the story of the Ziggurat].”
5 The Lord came down to see the city and the tower which the sons of men had built[As i have asked elsewhere, is he still omnipresent and omniscient? If yes, why has he to come?]. 6 The Lord said, “Behold, they are one people, and they all have the same language. And this is what they began to do, and now nothing which they purpose to do will be impossible for them[So did he think if man tried to do something, they would not succeed? How did he view his special creation as creationists would want us believe]. 7 Come, let Us go down and there confuse their language[why would the gods do this? and how many are they?], so that they will not understand one another’s speech.” 8 So the Lord scattered them abroad from there over the face of the whole earth; and they stopped building the city. 9 Therefore its name was called Babel, because there the Lord confused the language of the whole earth; and from there the Lord scattered them abroad over the face of the whole earth[Nuff said, are the gods full of malice?].
Nothing interesting here other than a contradiction on how long these guys live. In an earlier chapter 63 Then the Lord said, “My Spirit will not contend with humans forever, for they are mortal; their days will be a hundred and twenty years [how come men are still living to be 400yrs of age or did the scribes miss chapter 6?].”
The flood subsides
8 But God remembered [could he have forgotten that he has just drowned every living thing?] Noah and all the beasts and all the cattle that were with him in the ark; and God caused a wind to pass over the earth, and the water subsided.
2 Also the fountains of the deep and the floodgates of the sky were closed, and the rain from the sky was restrained; 3 and the water receded steadily from the earth, and at the end of one hundred and fifty days the water decreased[ where does the water go? by this time the earth is so saturated that i don’t think further absorption is possible]
4 In the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, the ark rested upon the mountains of Ararat. 5 The water decreased steadily until the tenth month; in the tenth month, on the first day of the month, the tops of the mountains became visible.[A little arithmetic just so we do not lose count of the days. It has rained 40 days and 40 nights, add 150 days for water to recede. Then 7 months for the ship to land on Mt Ararat and extra 3 months for the mountains to become visible. Here is the problem, in all this time, they can’t have replenished the food stocks they had, waste has not been emptied nor has the single window been opened. How are they surviving in this hell hole?]
6 Then it came about at the end of forty days, that Noah opened the window of the ark which he had made; 7 and he sent out a raven, and it flew here and there until the water was dried up from the earth. 8 Then he sent out a dove from him, to see if the water was abated from the face of the land; 9 but the dove found no resting place for the sole of her foot, so she returned to him into the ark, for the water was on the surface of all the earth. Then he put out his hand and took her, and brought her into the ark to himself.[ I have lost count of days now, but of note, if Noah’s God who commanded him to build the ark were omnipresent and omnipotent, why would he not just land the ark where there is dry land?Doesn’t Noah trust his God to tell him they have docked on dry land, but then again the chapter starts by him remembering, with such poor memory, Noah will just have to find away on his own! Why make them go through this charade of sending birds, have they been taught navigation skills?]
10 So he waited yet another seven days; and again he sent out the dove from the ark. 11 The dove came to him toward evening, and behold, in her beak was a freshly picked olive leaf. So Noah knew that the water was abated from the earth. 12 Then he waited yet another seven days, and sent out the dove; but she did not return to him again.[If he received the command to build the ark from god directly, why not just use the same channel to find out if there is dry land?]
13 Now it came about in the six hundred and first year, in the first month, on the first of the month, the water was dried up from the earth. Then Noah removed the covering of the ark, and looked, and behold, the surface of the ground was dried up. 14 In the second month, on the twenty-seventh day of the month, the earth was dry.[This has been a long wait. He must have breathed a sigh of relief]
15 Then God spoke to Noah, saying, 16 “Go out of the ark, you and your wife and your sons and your sons’ wives with you.[At last he speaks! But am just saying he spoke a little too late. Noah and kin have found dry land, why would they wait an order to disembark?]
17 Bring out with you every living thing of all flesh that is with you, birds and animals and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth, that they may breed abundantly on the earth, and be fruitful and multiply on the earth.” 18 So Noah went out, and his sons and his wife and his sons’ wives with him. 19 Every beast, every creeping thing, and every bird, everything that moves on the earth, went out by their families from the ark.[This order is superfluous in my view; first,if his reason for the murder was misdemeanor on the part of the human beings, I would be so apprehensive in bringing more children just they suffer the same fate and secondly given there is no mention of exercise space in the ark, there must be muscle cramps, if you leave the stale air, any living organism would want to stretch. Then the great declaration, let the sex begin. Go yea and multiply. What will the herbivores be eating? Most plants and grasses would have been destroyed in the year long flood]
20 Then Noah built an altar to the Lord, and took of every clean animal and of every clean bird and offered burnt offerings on the altar. 21 The Lord smelled the soothing aroma[ Till now I didn’t know God loved the smell of BBQ]; and the Lord said to Himself, “I will never again curse the ground on account of man, for the intent of man’s heart is evil from his youth; and I will never again destroy every living thing, as I have done.[Just a moment, is he having second thoughts about what he has just done? And if he is speaking to himself, who heard him to record all this? Or was he talking out aloud to himself? This is the time he should have checked into an asylum]
22 “While the earth remains,
Seedtime and harvest,
And cold and heat,
And summer and winter,
And day and night
Shall not cease.”[ Nuff said]
Then the Lord said to Noah, “Enter the ark, you and all your household, for you alone I have seen to be righteous before Me in this time how many families were in existence? All must have been Noah’s relatives 2 You shall take with you of every clean animal by sevens, a male and his female; and of the animals that are not clean two, a male and his female;clean in what sense? I thought in the previous chapter we had two of each? 3 also of the birds of the sky, by sevens, male and female, to keep offspring alive on the face of all the earth. 4 For after seven more days seven days to traverse the whole globe from the NH to SH, convince the animals to come, trap the birds and ants, you can fill in the list here you will find an idea on how long and at what cost it would have taken to capture the animals living on the planet at the time, I will send rain on the earth forty days and forty nights how did the sea life survive? was the rain saline in nature? were there any plants left after this many days of rain?; and I will blot out from the face of the land every living thing that I have made.” 5 Noah did according to all that the Lord had commanded him.
6 Now Noah was six hundred years old when the flood of water came upon the earth. 7 Then Noah and his sons and his wife and his sons’ wives with him entered the ark because of the water of the flood. 8 Of clean animals and animals that are not clean and birds and everything that creeps on the ground, 9 there went into the ark to Noah by twos, male and female, as God had commanded Noah. 10 It came about after the seven days, that the water of the flood came upon the earth. 11 In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, on the seventeenth day of the month, on the same day all the fountains of the great deep burst open, and the floodgates of the sky were opened. 12 The rain fell upon the earth for forty days and forty nights Apart from the repetition of the same event in the six verses, I have a few thoughts; are the other humans dead already? have they just taken a leave of absence? is it remotely possible they couldn’t break the door? Would everyone be so bad in this society that only one family does the right thing?.
13 On the very same day Noah and Shem and Ham and Japheth, the sons of Noah, and Noah’s wife and the three wives of his sons with them, entered the ark, 14 they and every beast after its kind, and all the cattle after their kind, and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth after its kind, and every bird after its kind, all sorts of birds. 15 So they went into the ark to Noah, by twos of all flesh in which was the breath of life. 16 Those that entered, male and female of all flesh, entered as God had commanded him; and the Lord closed it behind him.
17 Then the flood came upon the earth for forty days, and the water increased and lifted up the ark, so that it rose above the earth. 18 The water prevailed and increased greatly upon the earth, and the ark floated on the surface of the water. 19 The water prevailed more and more upon the earth, so that all the high mountains everywhere under the heavens were covered. 20 The water prevailed fifteen cubits higher, and the mountains were covered. 21 All flesh that moved on the earth perished, birds and cattle and beasts and every swarming thing that swarms upon the earth, and all mankind; 22 of all that was on the dry land, all in whose nostrils was the breath of the spirit of life, died. 23 Thus He blotted out every living thing that was upon the face of the land, from man to animals to creeping things and to birds of the sky, and they were blotted out from the earth; and only Noah was left, together with those that were with him in the ark. 24 The water prevailed upon the earth one hundred and fifty days. My friends have asked many questions on the verses above.Where does all the water go? They have at the last verse been in the watertight and airtight ark for 190 days; what lighting system are they using? what is the method of waste disposal they are employing? do they still have food?
Forgive me for not been up to this for a while now, you see I was busy. I had traveled to visit the countryside to see what developments if any were going on and also a meet the people tour. With the apology done, we will get straight to Genesis.
Chapter 5 is a list of descendants of Adam. Two things of note; males get recognition compared to the women folk and whenever a woman is mentioned there is something in the works, and people live really long. I don’t know what happened to us, but I surely would want to live to be 200yrs old. In chapter 6 we have the beginnings of the story of Noah, the first saviour of mankind.
Chapter 5 v1 & 2 is a repetition of creation of man.
v3 Adam was 130yrs old, say that again, when he begot a son in his likeness, after his image; and he named him Seth[ lets pause a bit here, where is Cain and Abel? would Adam’s protege be in the likeness of something different?] Adam lived to be 930yrs when he died.
v6 Seth begets his son Enosh at 105yrs, what was he doing with his youth? is this not a case of shooting pool with a rope? Just like the father, he had a long life dying at the mature age of 912yrs.
v9 Enosh begets Kenan when he is 90 and others. He lives to be 905 yrs .
v12, Kenan at 70 begets Mahalalel and lives to the mature age of 910 yrs.
v15 Mahalalel becomes the father of Jared and others at 65 and dies aged 895 yrs.
v18, we see Jared at 162yrs of age begetting Enoch and others. He was 962 yrs old when he died.
v21 Enoch at 65 begets Methuselah ,and others not mentioned before the court, and he died really young at a measly 365 yrs of age [ methinks he missed his measles vaccine]. The good book says he walked with God and he took him, so am not sure whether he died like the rest who had lived before him.
v25 Methuselah pushes the limits of youth to 187 before he gets Lamech as a son. He died aged 969 yrs.
v28, like father like son, Lamech doesn’t disappoint. He begets Noah at 182 yrs and immediately declares him a saviour ” Out of the very ground that the Lord has put under a curse, this one shall bring us relief from our work and the toil of our hands”. And how did he know this? I don’t see God telling him anywhere? Or is this a scribe being creative? The jury is out! Seriously, why not just ask god to undo the curse? Lamech died at 777 years of age.
v32, I talked too soon, Noah was 500 years when he begot Shem, Ham and Japheth [ they are the first that have names or were they triplets? just asking].
In chapter 6, v2 …the sons of heaven saw how beautiful the daughters of man were, and so they took for their wives as many of them as they chose.[ do you see my confusion here?] v3 ends by god reducing the years of man to 120 years.
v4 At that time the Nephilim appeared on earth (as well as later), after the sons of heaven had intercourse with the daughters of man, who bore them sons. They were the heroes of old, the man of renown. These must be the ancestors of Batman and Superman, am just saying, I could be wrong. But someone please tell me what’s going on.
v5 God is angry at his creation and wishes he never did create in the first place. Who should be blamed? The created or the creator?
v7 He makes the decision to wipe out the entire creation, man and everything else including birds [someone tell me the mistakes the birds of the air had committed, am patient] but Noah found favour with the lord.
v13, Noah is informed of the imminent destruction that awaits a lawless and corrupt world. v14 is the ship builder God. How Noah cuts the pieces of wood he needed to build is a matter of conjecture. v19 we have the passengers to the great ship. Now lets pause again here, there are several questions to be answered here. Noah has 3 sons and their wives and his wife and their children. Lets be generous and say they are 50 able bodied adults, how did they manage to get all the animals in the ark, from the ice caps, the mountain regions, the sea, the deserts, the rain forests just to name a few. What amount of food did they have in store for all of them? How did they transport the food and what was it? Was there an extra gazelle for lions? You see where this is headed? And on other matters, how did they deal with the wood peckers? And since the commandment was he brings them two by two, what happens when three rats show up? Is it turned back?
v22 This Noah did; he carried out all the commandments that God gave him.
