If love didn’t win

Actually, there is no such thing as a homosexual person, any more than there is such a thing as a heterosexual person. The words are adjectives describing sexual acts, not people. The sexual acts are entirely normal; if they were not, no one would perform them

Gore Vidal

we can safely say bigotry lost.

Since all my readers are quite informed, this post requires no background. We have aurora telling us, in her own words

I can understand the mindset and the worldview of wanting “equality” for everyone. I am opposed to slavery and am grateful for the steps toward equal rights for African Americans in the United States. I am opposed to sexism and am so thankful to live in an era where women are allowed to vote, go to college and compete with men for jobs in engineering and medicine. And I believe that all human beings have dignity, value and worth. But I cannot support gay marriage.

Even though she understands the mindset that advocates equality for everyone, if he had her way, she would only grant those freedoms she thinks others need, nothing more.

And she knows our friend Pink is unhappy. She writes

But at my core, I do not believe that marrying someone of the same gender is ultimately for their good; I do not believe it will result in true and lasting joy.

One would be left wondering if all other marriages live in bliss so that if LGBTs get married, only them will be unhappy.

When god speaks to Job, he is being evasive and a bully. Job only wants to know why he is suffering. I see no way this chapter is relevant to LGBTs getting fair treatment before the law. It should always be remembered, had the state and church not concerned itself with who marries who, this court case would not have arisen. The only reason the state should have its nose in private affairs, should be limited to protecting minors or those being abused but nothing more.

And then she declares where she stands, without leaving room for any ambiguity

I tend to have Libertarian leanings. I am Pro-Life, opposed to gay marriage, and in support of keeping “under God” in the pledge.

I don’t know what she would say were Muslims, once they are the majority, ask to have under Allah in the pledge.

If as she says

And He wants us to enjoy pleasure and experience happiness. But He knows what will lead to our ultimate joy, and that is to be patient and wait until marriage.

it could have within her god’s power to make it such that the desire for sex only came once a person was married and never before. Since this is not the case, I suggest she takes the matter to a celestial court. While we are here, those who want to have sex will continue to, married or not and others will be miserable and others not so. In case it is lost on her, when you begin to have sex has no bearing on whether you will be happy or sad.

And, young woman, if this

Wives, how many of you have insecurities because your husbands made love to other women before he met you? Is he comparing me to her? Is he thinking of her when he’s with me?

is your greatest worry, then you have a long way to go and I suggest the best way out for you is to become a nun or remain celibate.

I believe when she writes

Premarital sex undermines the marriage, and – knowing that – God in His love and wisdom asks us to wait.

she hasn’t heard of  the man who was divorced because he had a small manhood.

While she worries that there could be an earthquake in heaven because people are in a celebratory mood, it would do her much good to concern herself with living her life. Nothing is going to change. She will still walk to work, go to church on Sunday and only date men. No one is going to force her to date another woman.

If it will help her sleep, I would like to tell her she is mistaken in thinking

God was not surprised by this ruling; He is sovereign and knew about this day before the beginning of time (Eph. 1).

unless she is ready to admit that the 5 justices were working against her omni god and won.

As many others before me have written, these are the disasters Aurora and others like her can expect will happen now.

Have a great weekend everyone.

  1. Poor Aurora- she lives with blinders on 😣
If I would have had sex with my first husband before I married him I wouldn’t have married him- and sex is vital in a marriage- any marriage- sex is not evil- sex is what defines intimacy in a relationship- and without sex- it is just a friendship.

  2. I love, love, love the Gore Vidal quote. Human sexuality and affection rarely fits in a box.

I don’t need a slip of paper to make me committed to my spouse. I do need that slip of paper to have that commitment validated for tax, insurance, and identity purposes. That’s how our world works. Why is that so hard for bigots to understand?

  6. Fine post, my friend. If Aurora wants to please god, she must first understand that there is no god but Allah, and Allah demands that women cover their bodies and faces in public as to not tempt men to rape them with their Satanic beauty. Christians are so blind to reality. The idjits worship a false god and except people to take their words seriously. I’ll bet Aurora walks around with her face unveiled in public, too. What a hoochy-mama she is. She’s an offense to Allah. She really is not one to be criticizing anyone else about sex when she’s such a blight in the sight of Allah. Damn hoochy-mama.

If I don’t get too lazy, I think I’m going to head to the Pride parade and take some photos tomorrow.

The problem with people like Aurora is that everything she says is based on the premise that there is a wise, all-knowing, benevolent supreme got who has all of our interests close to his non-corporeal heart. As long as she believes that, you can’t even have a rational discussion about the matter.

He didn’t help my believing Christian friend who sometime around 40 gave up on trying to meet a husband and is, contrary to her own desires, still a virgin a 50. I can’t think of a bigger waste than that.

Interestingly, when I was in high school, libertarians tended to support abortion and didn’t support the pledge. Gay marriage was not much of an issue then, but I suspect they would have taken the position that the government shouldn’t be telling everyone who can marry whom. The people who used to call themselves libertarians used to believe in individual liberty as being paramount. Back then, I could sympathize with them on an emotional level, although I felt their ideas were untested and impractical and couldn’t not be implemented. Slowly, the positions of libertarians have shifted to accommodate the Christian conservatives. The people who call themselves libertarians today are frequently anything but. They are authoritarians who want to use the force of the government to impose their idea of the good life on everyone rather than honoring the adult individual’s ability to decide for themselves. I, myself, am getting more than a little tired of people who have strong opinions about politics while possessing intellects that find Twitter’s 140 characters to be far too generous.

As far as being compared… Damn, sweetie. Make a little effort so you’ll be compared favorably! 🙂

A virgin at 50! Is she trying to become a saint?
For Aurora and the rest like her, it is either the bible or nothing. They should have no problem with fathers shagging their daughters.
She wants her god and government in the same plate, the rest of you be damned

    Hey Mak!
It’s BECAUSE of sex before marriage that I GOT married!! Ha, ha. All good. Oh, and I had to ask my daughter what a hoochie-mama is and I dare say I qualify! 🙂
The only thing that’s happened in Canada since same-sex marriage was legalized is that more people are married.

Maybe it is because of sex before marriage that I am yet to marry lo. Should I become a virgin and conform to the standards Aurora wants us to live by?
I think the only downside to same sex marriage is there will be divorce from all quarters lo. Divorce lawyers may have more work

  9. Great post Noel. I was looking over your last link and thinking that those who oppose marriage equality are looking at these countries and probably hoping, praying that disasters “judgement” comes upon them. How much you wanna bet?

Well, judgement is already happening here in America. Yes siree.

What do goddites fear? Or do they suspect their religion is becoming irrelevant to most people?

    • Hahahaha that link is brilliant – the giant duck has me highly amused. It’s real shame people like Aurora don’t see that they harbour a darkness within them, not a light at all. Love most certainly has won. *beams a smile*

  10. I liked this quote from hers:

How many married couples look back on their youth and think, “Man, I really wish I’d fooled around with more people before I got married!”?

    Hell yes, why not?

Or the reverse, ‘How many married couples think on their wedding night, hmmm, is that it? Maybe I should have tried someone else after all …’

And I agree with fojap. That’s hardly the definition of a libertarian, more a stark-raving right-wing fascist. I guess definitions have indeed changed. Or Aurora doesn’t understand big words.

I will go with her not understanding big words. She should learn from Mark Twain who said not to use a big word if there was a simple one in its stead.
