It’s 20 years after the Bosnian war has ended. An American soldier taking it easy in the mountains is tracked by a Kovac who has a real axe to grind. Who will win is the question that keeps us on the edge of the seat.
There is this conversation they have at some point about whether there is god and the Kovac says he believes in the existence of god because only a good could allow so much evil.
In another scene, he is confessing his sins and he says “I confess my sins unto you but don’t dare absolve them”. I like any movie people are being irreverent.
Maybe you will like it.
I just searched. It’s on Netflix. I’ll give it a watch this evening after work.

I hope you enjoy it as I did.
Hope things are good down south. When I followed the news, I would know what’s happening down there and inform you. Now we are both ignorant

Our housekeeper lives in nearby Berea and her husband has just phoned to say there is more rioting near where they live.
Apparently flats are being set alight but I have not confirmed this.
Her husband has left work to go home.
We’ll know directly in an hour or so,
The poor woman is in an absolute state.

Apparently it’s more xenophobia crap.
You know the shit, ‘Foreigners taking our jobs”
Our housekeeper says they’ve been targeting Somalis and Nigerians.
The small media company my son freelances for have a business in a suburb called Jeppe. They felt obliged to close shop and move the staff yesterday.
Seems a bit hectic, but
I only heard about it this morning from our housekeeper.
There is also some trouble in nearby Kensington, according to my friend,
Romana.
My poor housekeeper is beside herself.
We may keep her over until this blows over.

Hey, I’m just reading this now, as we speak.
You know me and ”news”, but with all this shit going down one has to exercise a bit of caution driving around.
Apparently the Minister of Police, Cele, told rioter to ”behave”.
Phew! Thank the gods for effective Law Enforcement. That should sort the problems out then, right?

Yes. That seems to work wonders.

In Ulysses Gaze (unquestionably the best film I’ve ever seen, and will likely ever see) there is a Croat (or Serbian?) soldier in the fog about to kill a family by the river. You never see him, or them, just hear the voice. He says something like “The Creator sure has made a mess of things.”
This is the next scene

I think one of the best combinations I have watched is a De Niro & Al Pacino

I’ve watched and enjoyed this movie – two heavy weight stars and both belong in my favourite list.
The movie makers did go over the top some – such as that rope through the leg muscles. Don’t know whether mere muscle can hold the Robert De Niro’s weight. But all in all, enjoyable.

Yeah, that was pushing it.
But it was an enjoyable movie all the way
